The 3-star is based on both the cover size, and the leather.- This is shipped with a Moleskine Cahier XL, which is a relatively thin softcover stitched notebook with 60 sheets/120 pages. This Moleskine fits fine. It also fits the standard composition book you can buy at any office supply store. However, it will NOT fit the thicker 96 sheet/192 page "Moleskine Classic Notebook, Soft Cover, XL". The book is too thick for the size of the leather cover. While I haven't tried, my guess is that the hardcover XL notebook would also not fit.I think it's reasonable to conclude from the seller description that the cover fits the Moleskine XL. Down one star.- The leather has a very thin dye layer. The slightest scratch or abrasion removes the color. In particular, the spine where the leather is bent arrived several shades lighter than the rest of the book because of the bend. I used dark brown shoe cream on my book, and it now looks quite nice. Down one star.- Leather is soft, and construction seems well done.If it fits what you want to put in, it's an acceptable cover. You should just know what you're getting..

It's pretty and the built in folder doesn't affect writing. I didn't even regret that I paid for shipping!

It smells and feels like real leather, not plastic (IMO and I own a lot of good leather goods). Quality paper and with a fountain tip pen it is the perfect combo!I am new to journaling. This was great for getting started as I just feel cool carrying it lol.
