I must be a glutton for punishment coming back to Steens - I have never got one undamaged (very flimsy packaging) the question is 'how lucky do you feel'? Thankfully this time the box was ripped and minor damage save punctured screws box thus screws missing and loose inside.You also need to take your time and perhaps use better glue than given (e.g. Gorilla, etc.) also glue as many things as you can for better structural integrity and take your time working out how it fits best. At least the drawer runners are metal and pretty smooth - but in time they may become loose (happened to other Steens stuff) - so invest in some magnetic drawer buffers to keep the drawers closed.The picture may not be clear - this version is not varnished but kind of matte infused (not painted) but it looks good. So if you want varnished make sure you buy appropriate varnish and varnish before building.Unless you load it like mad the shoe storage looks sturdy enough - sure I would have preferred metal not plastic supports - but not sure what at this price does use actual wood and metal - at least it is not MDF. You may need to angle some tall shoes and some may not fit - but generally big shoes at the back, medium in middle drawer and kids at the front.For the price - I think it's great value and looks good and functional - but be prepared for aggro and make sure you have spare screws/dowels/etc. as well as better/stronger glue and take your time and it will look great. Oh - and make sure you have a drill also - may need it. Also - for the back - I always prefer to use (pozi) screws not hammer little nails - makes a much stronger build - glue it too.

The Steens Mario Shoe Cupboard was easy to build, looks nice, very sturdy, just what I wanted for my hall.BUT this is the worst experience I have ever had with buying an item from Amazon, the customer service team failed badly in helping.The shoe cupboard came on 03/07/14 and the draw runners were missing, I got in touch with Amazon and they offered me £10 refund for missing parts, I said No, the unit is no good without draw runners, they said they can’t send missing parts (that is acceptable) so it went back and a replacement was sent, it came on the 05/07/14 only to find no assembly instructions / parts list.Again back on to Amazon they said they would get in touch with the factory and ask them to send me the assembly instructions, I got in touch with them again on the 15/07/14 as I had not heard anything, they said it is not long enough I have not waited five working days, and if I have not heard anything I should get back in touch on the 16/07/14.They sent an email on the 16/07/14 informing me the matter is being dealt with and I should wait five working days.I was so fed up of waiting I contacted the Steens my-self explained the problem, and told them I was getting no cooperation from Amazon. Steens sent the Assembly instructions via email PDF within 1 hour. Amazon customer services need improving.

Purchased March 2014 but only just got around to reviewing!I was looking for a shoe storage cupboard to fit into a space in my hallway by the front door. This was just the perfect size and looks really good. I am able to fit in 18 pairs of shoes in total, but could squeeze in more if it was just ladies shoes (the slots are not very high so only ordinary shoes will fit). My husband assembled it and only really found a problem when putting the drawer runners in, but by that time he was getting tired and the light was fading. The only thing we were disappointed with on this cupboard is the plastic components used on the drop down drawers. Our concern is the stop is made of plastic and we think if the drawer is dropped accidentally a few times it may snap. Otherwise I am really pleased with this product!

Purchased this product and received goods all in a flat packed box. My partner opened box and read the instructions and set to task putting unit together. Very straightforward until the very last bit of slotting in the shoe storage draws x2 and found we were missing the hinge screw parts to complete task. Called amazon to ask to ship out spare parts and got a response of pack it all together and send it back to us and we will ship out another!! i tried explaining that the unit is built and 99% complete!!All i need is the supplier to send me parts:-4 x BA10580 which is the hinge part size diameter 20mm x 15.7mm x 2mm4 x BA10582 which is the drawer stop part size diameter 10.2mm x 8.2mm x 20mmits as simple as that....please help by sending missing parts in the post or e-mail me to confirm solution.

Only looking for a 2 drawer cabinet and this was ideal. Found the instructions illustrations a bit difficult to view but as had previously built similar cabinets all went well.

The instructions weren’t clear and the parts hadn’t been numbered, I also had small splits in the wood when the dowel was put in place luckily it was at the back so didn’t matter

Not hard to assemble but I am getting used to flat pack after so many years. I wanted to free up a little space in the wardrobe with various items rarely used and tea shirts and the three small shelves just about cope with that. it is sturdy but not the highest quality when compared to the other furniture but it fits in more than OK and I have that elusive shelf back in the wardrobe.Overall very pleased with purchase

Bought this item after hours of searching online for a shoe cabinet that has the right price and does the job properlyDelivery was quick and helpful driver thank you.You will spend at least 10 minutes without blinking an eye trying to understand the assembly instructions but then it will start to make sense it is not very bad.Quality is acceptable and when assembled it looks good. Enough space especially for women shoes and other member of the family it really keeps the hallway tidyBe careful with the screws... I nearly made a whole in one of the drawers
