Hayward W3AQ-TROL-RJ-TL AquaTrol Salt Chlorination System for Above-Ground Pools up to 18,000 Gallons with Return Jet Fittings, Twist Lock Line Cord and Outlet

This is our THIRD salt Chlorinator. The first one lasted only 2 years. The 2nd one lasted only 1.5, the last one about 16 months. For this price, the quality should be dependable. We cleaned it accordingly to the instructions via Customer Service. The Hayward does not provide a good warranty because it simply will not last. After the third purchase, we did some research and opted for an entirely different system made in the USA with a 5 year warranty at the same price!

At first I was worried that this would be expensive and complicated, although the system can be a bit pricey, it was very easy to install and get going. I have had this in place for 2 months so far and have been very pleased. We used to spend so much on chlorine and other chemical every month before we switched over to this salt water system, I should have switched sooner. The most difficult part of the installation for me was adding a cut off under the unit to make filter care easy and avoiding water escaping pool. The control unit is easy to use and is as simple as setting the timer and checking the salt level every once and awhile to make sure you are at good levels.We have a 9K gallon pool, small compared to what this system could handle. We added 6 bags of pool salt and PH up to get the pool balanced, 50 dollars worth, and have not had to add any other chemical. Be advised that we did not add much new water, if you are starting with new water I would recommend adding metal out and stabilizer, another 15 dollars depending on pool size, to get a good balance.Before this salt water chlorination system we had a frogger pool care system. I really liked the frogger system but it was very expensive and required weekly maintenance. We would spend between 65 to 100 dollars a month on cartridges, depending on use and volume of guest. Our pool is only open for 3 to 4 month a year so as long as it stores well this system should pay for itself with saving on chemicals in 2 to 3 seasons.Only rated it 4 stars because the system should include some cell care products such as brush and cleaner and a DVD on install and control unit operation, other than that I highly recommend.

Soo happy I canceled the Blue Works unit and went with this Hayward unit. What a great deal as we saved a tone of money! We took a bit of a gamble as no one could actually tell me what the difference was in this W3AQ-TROL-RJ unit Over the AQ-TROL-RJ model we are a custom to. It does have the T-CELL-5 which was my biggest concerns so that was a relief and we did find out later that this model is a direct replacement for the AQ-TROL-RJ units. . Everything was plug and play based on my previous system so we were up and running in less than 30 minutes! The real only difference I see in this unit is the fittings they supply. You will need to purchase a extra G1-132527-20 Union Adapter (only 1 included in the box) if you want to hard plumb the cell and install a shut off valve on the return for easy cell removal and cleaning. These Union Adapters say they are 2" but the hole actually measures around 2 3/8" So you will need to gets some 2 3/8" to 2" PVC Reducer bushings from one of the big box hardware stores. We've tried the no name brand components on and off for 3 years and had nothing but frustration. Great to have a Hayward system back on our pool!

Had 3 of these and they don’t last. Hayward customer service is horrible. IF you get to talk to someone they want you to drive hours to service center or go back to where you purchased. Again if. It takes several calls and attempts to talk to someone that isn’t if any help. If the product works it’s great but again can’t last warranty period. Going to look for another brand. My review is not unique with issues

If I could rate this as 0, I would. The Hayward Goldline AQ-Trol control box does not work. It came preset at AL-3 and will not adjust higher than AL-5. It must be set at AL-7 in order to work with the Turbo Cell - the Aquatrol could only read as No Flow. It took me 3 weeks to reach Hayward since their hours are not compatible with people who work Monday-Friday, the only time their customer service staff is available. Once I finally reached them and could talk to a service technician (2 hours later), I was told the warranty would only cover the cost of parts, but not labor to correct the issue - I am being told I have to pay for the labor on the repair of an item I received non functional out of the box. This has been one of the worst experiences as a consumer that I can remember. I should be able to return the defective Aquatrol for one that actually works. Shame on Hayward.

I bought this as a replacement for one I bought 7-8 years ago. The old one started acting up and I needed a new salt cell anyway so I bought a complete new system. The old one paid for itself a couple of times over in savings from not buying chemicals. My pool chemical costs went from about $4-500/yr to about $60 (salt and stabilizer). The price of the system has gone up from the $600 I paid years ago but so has the cost of chemicals which I don't use any longer.

It came in a safe package, and easy to install. I like it so far. Works like a charm for my 27' round pool. No chlorine smell anymore.

While this system works fine it’s not as pictured on Amazon.

L'appareil est parfait et fonctionne comme un charme. Heureusement car j'ai une très mauvaise note pour le transport. Le boîtier est arrivé bosselé et une lèvre de fixation pliée. Mais le système fonctionne à merveille, très satisfait.
