I made the mistake of tamping without the lid with my first vita-mix tamper- oops, there is a reason they warn you not to do this. If you want to test the strength of the blade, this will do it! I ended up going with these, and frankly they are exactly the same for a lot less money!

I was skeptical when I purchased this tamper due to reading some reviews about it not being good quality. I gave it a good ol' fashion test run a few days after I received it, I made some homemade peanut butter and ground up some beef. No problem at all, it was as sturdy and durable as the original one that came with my Vitamix.

Just like original but I believe this one is a little heavier made.

Fits and works as well as the one that came with the blender.

I used this as a pusher for my meat grinder. I did not have a blender tamper and had used my meat pusher witch was hollow, brittel plastic. This product is sturdy and works in both.
