Good, salty, rich licorice flavor.
I'll be honest, I was expecting more salt. As someone who ate his fair share of authentic Dutch and Finnish salty licorice while he was in Europe, I bought this to relive the memories of the first time I tried these ultra-salty morsels a couple years back. With anticipation and the expectation of an overwhelming chemical salt I had experienced the first time, I tasted one and...I waited. And I waited a bit more. And to my surprise they were salty but the licorice still cut through the acrid, slightly chemical taste of ammonium chloride. These are just as tasty as I remember. Perhaps my previous encounters with these black, semi-hard bricks of pure, unbridled flavor had prepared my tastebuds for the onslaught of salt, therefor I wasn't taken aback like that first time. They are an excellent texture for both savoring slowly and chewing gently--gummy, but still somewhat firm. Exceedingly salty but still semi-sweet and rich in earthy licorice flavor. All around, 10/10.

Loved it!
I ordered this product because I wanted to see if it tasted as good as I remembered when I was given it as a "surprise" a few years ago, and I am glad to say it still does! For those wondering what it tastes like, the best way to do so is to experience it for yourself. Now while saying that, I would NOT recommend this to people who dislike Black Licorice or salty candies/items, as stated in the name this product has a very strong upfront taste of salt, but as you finish the piece the salt becomes less overpowering and more like a normal Black Licorice with a slight hint of salt.It is something I would order again and I highly recommend anyone who would be willing to try something new to give it a shot!

Pretty good stuff for the style
Honestly, first time I tried "double salt" I thought why would someone WANT to eat this. Then I immediately had to try another. Well, it's become an addiction. Regular black licorice is fine but there's something special about salty. This brand is less salty than I was hoping for but it's a good balance of salty and sweet. My usual brand burns on your tongue when you first toss it in. This is good. Good value for the money. Flavorful and enjoyable. Good buy.

Tastes like long-stored, cold consignment clothing
Please, nobody buy this. I always had strong dutch licorice when I was young (like literally, I had a piece every day since kindergarten (my old man went to Amsterdam lots) and remembered Venco to be a good brand that my family had enjoyed. I bought this product and not only were the bags quite dirty, the licorice was old and rock-hard and tasted- I'm serious- like it had been stored a long time in a cold consignment clothing warehouse. It was nearly all I could taste, which sucked, plus the licorice itself upset my stomach some and made me feel sick. Not sure if it will cause you the same stomach pain but I wholeheartedly regret that purchase that I had so looked forward to, and all I taste is old clothes.

You either like it or you don’t!
Tasted this once from a friend and was immediately intrigued! Salty not sweet black licorice and I swear the aftertaste is like blue cheese! Don’t know how to explain that…. Definitely a unique confection.

Note That the Salt is Ammonium Chloride
I admit that I was completely uneducated about the Scandinavian tradition of using ammonium chloride in licorice rather than sodium chloride which is what I was expecting in this salted licorice. I was very taken aback by the cat pee smell and the burning in my nose when I eat one of these. I do not like these at all but cannot return them now. Lesson learned. Americans, beware of the ammonia flavor!

Softer, slightly less salty than Gustaf's dubbelzalt coins
These are a delicious compromise between Gustaf's dubbelzalt coins (which I love, but they're almost too salty even for me, and they tend to arrive a bit on the dried out side depending on the supplier) and the regular "single" salt black licorice / anise candies. If Gustfaf's are a 10 for saltiness, I'd say these are a 9.If you like salty black licorice and want something stronger, but the coins are a bit too much, these should be perfect for you! That being said, if you're new to salty black licorice, these are still _very_ salty, and very chewy / firm, and it's not your standard NaCl salt, it's NH4Cl, giving it a strong anise/ammonia sort of flavor.

Just what I was looking for, totally worth the price!
I loooove dubbel zout, my dad's family is Dutch and I grew up having this as a treat (which most of my friends found gross but that just meant more for me!). We have some local Dutch markets but they're a bit hard to get to so I was excited to see this available! It's a big pack of 4 bags, but it arrived and stayed nice and fresh over the 4 months or so I was snacking on it. The price was definitely a bit steep but it's an imported product so that's expected, and well worth it!

Love the taste...salted licorice is not for everyone, a nice little trip down memory lane :)

salty licorice satisfaction
If you're a salty licorice person, these are the best. I buy them all the time now. The price is fine. If you went to a specialty store to buy 1 bag, you would pay more per bag. I hope they never discontinue these. They are my evening go to, which keeps me from eating a bag of chips, haha.

Good Double Salted Licorice
This is good double salted licorice. Most North Americans would gag on this stuff but those of us with Dutch heritage love it. A little pricey but it does come from Holland so it is worth it. A good buy. Big check mark.

Hubby eats them like candies 😁
These are hard to get where we live in Northern Ontario so often need to order from here. They are a bit pricier but so far, have always been fresh and soft.
