My Favorite Backpack
Before I start, I must admit that I am pretty biased towards High Sierra; I have had one since middle school (now a college student). Each one I have had was different from the last, and I have liked each one more than the last. This backpack is certainly not an exception. For having it about a week and a half, I consider it one of the best backpacks I have ever had. And here's why:It isn't bulky. This thin backpack can fit everything that I have managed to fit in a much wider backpack simply because it has those couple of extra inches in height. I have always hated walking around with a fat and bulky backpack. I may be the biggest nerd I know, but I definitely don't need to look like it!The straps are great. This backpack handles a lot of weight fantastically well and it feels lighter than my previous backpack did with the same amount of stuff in it.And the color is great too. The three colors of the backpack go together beautifully. I must warn you though that the picture is a bit different than the real thing. The picture shows the orange as being calm, almost earthy. No. The orange is in-your-face neon orange. To be honest, it surprised me at first, though it did not bother me too much. By this point, I love the orange. It make my backpack unique; I haven't seen anyone else on campus with a bag that looks anything like it.The only con for me is not so much of a con on the backpack but more of a challenge. It does not have that extra zipper pocket on the front that most High Sierra bags have. Because I have been so accustomed to it since I have had a bag of this brand, it has been hard for me to get used to a different form of organization. But I suppose that the change is good. All of this being said, I would not hesitate to recommend this backpack to anyone. And if it helps, I have already received three compliments on it, including someone telling me that it is "on fleek."

sturdy and huge but lead to chronic back pain
I was so excited to find this gigantic backpack that I could fit all my courses books in and still have some room for a sweatshirt or snack. Of course I didn't carry all of them at once but it's nice to have the option. This bag is the epitome of a "bottomless pit" bag. Everything ended up buried and I was digging in the bottom for things that typically don't get lost - like a pencil box. It would have been nice to have a few pockets within the main big section just to keep important things like my dorm key and my most used pencils because I pretty much never opened the front pocket - it wasn't convenient. I want my writing tools right with my paper, you know? The big problem was the straps. The shoulder straps and the top carry handle are all connected. This design allows for weight that normally is distributed through the shoulders to also rest heavily on the back of your neck/ the top of your thoracic spine (the middle and upper part of your back). This caused pain, inflammation, bruising, headaches, and poor posture as I naturally adjusted to carry my head forward from my chest. Not a good situation. Be aware of the load you are carrying if you choose to go with a backpack with this strap design. It has a minor durability issue but this might just be my particular one. The mesh water bottle pocket ripped away from the elastic within 2 weeks. the only thing I ever put in there was my phone so it wasn't particularly strenuous weight wise. The rip was substantial and since then anything put in that "pocket" falls out immediately.

Almost perfect!
I spent a lot of time looking for a backpack that would be functional, at least mildly attractive, and reasonably priced. This backpack seemed to be the best combination of everything I was looking for. Having now received the backpack and carried it for a few days, I feel confident saying that this is a great bag for someone with a lot to carry. I'm a medical student and previously I'd been carrying a messenger bag every day. I couldn't get much in it at all without it starting to hurt my neck, back and shoulder. I can put a great deal more in this back pack and the thick, cushioned straps distribute the weight very well. The only reason it did not receive five stars is because I wish it had a few more small, zippered pockets. The front section is quite large and only has one small pocket it in that does not have any kind of closure. If you like to have small pockets to tuck away things like chap stick, a school ID, or the like, then you'll be disappointed by this feature. The items in this small pocket are always falling out into the larger compartment. Still a great bag, but some smaller, more secure compartments would put it over the top.Still, I'm very happy with the bag. It's sturdy, comfortable, and the colors are vibrant. Would definitely recommend!

Didn't last a full year
I bought this backpack in January 2015 for my high-schooler. He really liked the size, fit, and general layout. But a couple of weeks ago (early November 2015), he showed me that the stitching that held the top of the right shoulder strap to the backpack was coming loose. Within a week, the strap had pulled completely away from the body of the bag, making it unusable. I'm used to cheap discount-store backpacks tearing up within a school year, but I expected a High Sierra backpack to last longer than 7 months of actual use (not counting the summer). My son wants another High Sierra bag, though, so maybe we can find a model that will hold up better.

and disperses weight pretty evenly so my back isn't screaming in agony
I've used this backpack for over a year now for college and it's solid. It has enough storage for lots of books and a laptop, and disperses weight pretty evenly so my back isn't screaming in agony. I would recommend this backpack to anyone. My only suggestion to High Sierra is to add a second mesh pocket on the other side! :)

Good quality, awkward neon straps on exterior sides get in the way, aren't particularly useful
after a year, it has held up well, mostly because we aren't using it too much, the green neon cross straps are basically in the way when you try to access any of the three sections. Comfortable to wear, holds a good load, but not easy to access contents

genial diseño
Es una mochila muy practica, con varios compartimientos y muy comoda para cargar, aun con carga pesada dentro. Se ve mejor en vivo que en la foto.
