Full of great illustrations, advices and a nice way to see fashion.
For me, fashion design was always about sketching and drawing to let your ideas out before deciding to create a model. Seeing this book, I thought it was perfect way to learn more about the profession and what is behind the stage.Let me tell you that I was really impressed by the diversity of the art, the quality of the artists and the way the book was made.I've liked how you are introduced to the creators with a bio, their advices and motivational quotes to beginners, who will be interested in a carreer in the fasion industry.Of course, they all have their specificities and I was draw to some of them more than others. But I've really enjoyed reading about their works and how they see it.You can also see the designers using differents medium: watercolor, sketch, collage, digital, even some street art style. Work with colors or black and white. There is not really a difference with another artists. It's just their attention that is focusing on clothes, materials instead of canevas, packaging or a book cover. It was a very enjoyable read. Interested. Full of great illustrations, advices and a nice way to see fashion.

This book makes an amazing gift for aspiring designers or anyone just interested in ...
As a previous design student, I wish this book was around 5 years ago when I was curious about getting into the fashion design industry. This book makes an amazing gift for aspiring designers or anyone just interested in the fashion industry. Also, it's a great reminder on the coffee table to pick up a pencil and draw.

Well curated inspiration for aspiring fashion illustrators
Less of a "how-to" and more of a "how-about-that," The Art of Fashion Illustration won't teach you the techniques the artists use per se, but it will inspire you to try them on your own. A who's-who compendium from the emerging field of fashion illustration, the book is set up like a mini lecture series for aspiring illustrators, with lots of advice about the perseverance and hard work needed to break into the business. Author Somer Flaherty Tehwani lets the illustrators and their illustrations speak for themselves, and provides worksheets for you to try the techniques yourself. This last part is maybe a little gimmicky, but it does support the overall message: if you want to find your own style and voice as a fashion illustrator, you've got to practice your craft every day.
