The Akai Headrush E2pedal continues on from where the award-winning Akai Headrush E1 left off. The new Akai E2 Headrush delay pedal brings delay, tape echo simulations and a looping recorder in one convenient pedal. User selectable delay options allow for maximum control of signal output and include several real-time timing and level adjustment selections as well as feedback level for repeats. The Akai Headrush can also simulate a 4-head analog tape echo machine and it is possible to set the spacing between these 'virtual' heads to create complex multiple delays and repeats. You can also set the decay characteristics of these heads. Furthermore, the outputs of each of these virtual heads appear on individual outputs for ultimate flexibility when used with an external mixing console. The LOOPING RECORDER mode allows you to record and overdub layer after layer of sound in real-time making the Headrush an unbelievable live performance tool. Depending upon which mode is selected, the left footswitch controls the on/off and play/stop functions while the right footswitch sets the tap delay time or recording and overdub options. The LED display indicates which effect in use and blinks in time showing the delay time selected. Akai Headrush Features16-bit Digital Delay - Delay time from 0.5ms to an astonishing 35 seconds maximum (*)Tape Echo mode with four individual outputs for each head Looping Recorder with overdub mode - Powerful tool for solo performances HEAD GAP adjusts the delay time between the heads HF DAMP simulates an analog delay sound FEEDBACK sets the feedback level for repeat times RATIO allows adjustment of wet and dry mix Real-time delay control - sets delay time by tapping footswitch twice(*) Depending on the selected mode

Tape Delay, Looper, Digital Delay... Its a repeating beast!
I bought this because I needed a nice tape emulation delay pedal. At the same time I was playing around with loop pedals and came across a demo of this on youtube. The pedal is wayyy better than I expected with all features (tape delay, looper, and digital delay) - the tape delay heads have individual outputs, so if you have a nice recording gig at home, you can hook up all 5 outputs (1 mix, 1 tape head, 2 tape head, 3 tape head, and 4 tape head) to a 8 input mixer/interface and create swirling, panning, delay effects. Its really cool if you have it all hooked up and setup correctly. Im currently using this as my outboard delay effect that I route through the aux channels (I use a MOTU 828 firewire). The looper is great as long as you have rhythm and know when to press record and play to start and end phrases. Again, I was very happy that this pedal exceeded my expectations.NOTE TO DELAY TWEEKERS (meaning you like to turn the knobs while the delay is on to create crazy sounds...) This is not the pedal for you. When you turn the delay settings while a signal is going through it, the delay effect is reset every time you make an adjustment. So you can not make those crazy delay tweeking swoops and robotic metal chainsaw oscillations like some other delay pedals...

Multi amp space echo experimentation!
Fantastic. Highly underrated as a delay. Many people get it solely for the looping functionality. I feel its strength lies in its tape delay setting. If you have enough amps you can send a signal out to each of the simulated tape heads PLUS a mix and direct out. That is some room filling sound right there! Imagine spreading out 5 or 6 amps around the room and enveloping yourself in the repeats. Digital delay setting is also really nice.Truth is I bought this because I had a lot of Amazon points, and I wanted an inexpensive, good sounding delay. I think I ended up paying around $75! The sound and tweek-ability was a bonus. This unit does what no other delay unit on the market does. You can adjust virtual tape head spacing similarly to an old school tape echo. Thinking of buying another to run in series, just to freak out with! Crazy space guitar!

E2 Head Rush Delay/Echo/Loop Pedal
I have only got a chance to use this once for a good while , what I heard is pretty good, I have to say, I am very excited about it and never thought it would be so good, I cant wait to get more sounds from it with my other pedals and also mess around with it a bit more in the comming months, its brillant!

Power cord DOA!
The product itself is a great simple little gadget....and lots Unfortunately, my power cord was DOA on arrival and due to time constraints, I had to go to RadioShack and get something that would work, though I had to tape it in place as no tip fit perfectly. I do need another, better quality, OEM type power cord. For the frustration of a new non-working product, I had to give a 2-star.

Best birthday gift
This is a really useful practice tool with a lot of features to explore, the looping function is particularly useful in my case.

great product shame about the manual
Great piece of kit. However manual has an obvious error regarding which pedal to press to finish recording the loop (right to start and left to finish whereas the manual says right pedal to start and finish). This has been pointed out by several others on other reviews and passed back to the company. Pity they havent added a note to the manual to clarify instructions. However apart from this it is a great product and easy to use!
