I recently purchased the Colgate Total Advanced Pro-Shield Alcohol Free Mouthwash in Peppermint Blast, 33.8 Ounce, for a rather unconventional purpose: creating a DIY mosquito repellent. I was skeptical at first, but it has turned out to be surprisingly effective!I mixed the mouthwash with a few other household items from a “concoction” I found on Pinterest and sprayed it around our outdoor and patio seating area. The peppermint scent is refreshing and pleasant, and, to my surprise, it actually kept the mosquitoes away! It seems that the antibacterial formula and strong peppermint fragrance deter mosquitoes quite well and did not damage our plants/lawn.Not only did this solution work effectively, but it’s also a safer alternative to chemical repellents, especially with kids around. The fact that it’s alcohol-free is an added bonus, since mosquitoes are attracted to alcohol.While it may seem unusual, this Mouthwash has proven to be a versatile product in my household. It’s not only great for oral hygiene but also a handy tool for deterring mosquitoes.
