Rosetta Stone is the best language software I have ever used. It is very easy even for a beginner.

Learning conversational Italian

It's not as 'intuitive' as suggested. Instructions leave a lot to be desired, as well as customer support. Simple, basic things are over-emphasized, while more difficult concepts seem to be given short shrift. It also doesn't tell you how to use the app much. Quite by accident, I learned that if I press and hold on a lesson icon, a translation option pops up. That would've been VERY helpful to know since half the time i had no clue what i was saying.Also, on smaller tablets, the photos used are difficult to make out. Some are down right confusing.The grammar book is great - if you're a grammar maven. I can't make heads or tails of it. The dictionary is actually missing words and is difficult to read. On the upside - voice recognition works very well. There's only been a couple of instances when I had to yell at the darn thing. : )It's very expensive, but I can't afford to try others to see if they're any better. I'd recommend fully researching other programs before buying this. Maybe it is the best option. (Still annoying, though.)

So far very disappointing. Voice recognition has been a major issue. It often does not recognize my voice at all! The simplistic word such as “a” and it would not recognize my pronunciation of “a”’!!!!The lessons are repetitive and often give very hard beginning lesions. It lucky I can understand some Italian from my youth and growing up in Italian Family.If you ask me if I would buy it again I would say no.

I'm currently working on the Italian language. This program leaves a lot to be desired. I'm on UNIT 3 now and I don't feel any closer to knowing any Italian than I did before I started the program. The lessons consist of giving you a word, then using the word in a random sentence in Italian and using the pictures provided to guess with context clues what they mean. Using the process of elimination just to get the questions right doesn't help me learn the language at all, go figure right?I'm lucky I knew some words from when I was a kid to help me out. My mother and I were both trying to figure out the phrases together and she used to know Italian! I'm just going to continue to use my hands and pinch them together to say WTF?What they SHOULD do with this program is start out with basic words and phrases and first have them in both Italian and English so you can learn what they mean and even take a chance to write them down to better commit them to memory. (Which would also help the 'writing' part of the lessons where they say a phrase and you have to figure out how to spell it correctly.)

I have used this product before with a CD. I have not enjoyed using the download version. I can’t go back to start. There’s a short review but it doesn’t review the whole lesson just the easiest part of it.The second time I used it, it refused my password. I requested a password reset and it did not come within four hours. After 4 hours you have to start over. Yes, I checked multiple times in the Trash/Spam. It’s been a struggle that makes using it annoying and frustrating.
