greatly helps my arthritic 18 years old kitty to get to where he wants to go
I think how well this style will work for you will depend on the needs of your animal. Works great for my elderly cat who at 18 has some arthritis in in rear legs. He goes up and down them just fine. Very sturdy! I can lean on the steps and am not concerned with it falling apart.Height: 29" (as tall as most desks)Width: 15.5" roughlyDepth: 23.5"There are 4 steps contained within that 23.5" base & 29" height. The height from step to step is 7" (bottom of one step to top of the next), andThe depth of the step is 8", but since there is a little overhang from step above, then I would say 6.5". Keep this in mind as it may not be deep enough for some dogs to comfortably navigate the steps. I think most cats could handle this. In short: consider how much clearance they need. This is a TALL 29" unit. Is same height as most desks and some beds. The material is a smooth almost plush feel. Some animals may do better with a carpet style. If you have cats and are familiar with the Furhaven self warmer pads, or have Amarkat items, then the material is the same. I have no idea if a dog would use this. I would think that unless they are cat sized, then they would most likely need a less steep angle. This is perfect for a cat. This unit has been FANTASTIC. It was easy, and kind of fun to put together. The instructions were clear, and the labeling of each piece was correct. No headaches or frustration. Put together inside of 15 minutes. The base is a hinged board that becomes one solid board once the poles are attached.I am impressed with how sturdy this 4 step unit is. The carpeting is a soft, plush material. Smooth and short napped, much like their other products.I find it to be amazingly sturdy, especially when it butts up against something. It took my cats a few days to come around to using it, then once they did it became a normal part of their routine. At time of purchase, it was bought for use with my two elderly cats in mind, now at time of writing this just the one :( Both have/had weakness in their rear legs, especially my boy who seems to not be able to jump up. He can pull himself up if it is a soft surface to grab onto, or if the steps are short. My girl, who has passed, was able to jump up and down, but I wanted to provide her the added benefit of not having to. We have a younger cat who has used this, but hasn't had a need for it since he can just jump up and down from places. But it also has a lot to do with the current placement. The 4 step unit is tall. It is 29", so taller than some bed heights. If placed up against a basic bed, it my cat has to step down once he reached the top. If I wanted the steps to be about same height, then I would have gone with the 3 step unit, as it is 25". Anyway, it is exact same as my desk height. It is used as a step to get up onto my desk, which works well. I have an odd set up, which I will explain. My desk then has a twin bed along the same wall, and then another to form an "L" shape.. then a table (which at this point would be on wall across from my desk) where his food and water are. The spot where the table and 2nd bed meet has another set of stairs, but of a different kind (and are shorter). Anyway, this room is set up for the comfort and care of my boy, as well as for my two dogs and other cat. It is where I hang out a lot, so it is where they hang out a lot.For my boy, I like that he can wander the house, then come back to his room and have a couple of options as to how to get on and off the desk/bed/table set up. From there, my kitty can hang out on my desk with me, or he can walk across the bed to another area to rest. Anything for my babies, and this has been a great addition. Now, if I didn't want to use this as a step system for the purpose described, I would find it easy to use it elsewhere in the house, or as part of a larger cat climber set up.

The tallest stairs for my limping cat
My cat hurt her paw and the vet suggested getting a ramp or stairs for her to climb to her favorite sleeping spot. One of them happens to be very high in my closet (she feels safe from dogs there). These steps were the highest and most comfortable option I found on Amazon for her. The first package arrived without instructions or screws so watch out! I returned it and got a replacement

Exceeded expectations
This is SUPER study (even with one missing screw). I bought this for my cat with arthritis in her front legs and shoulders so she could get up to our talk bed without hurting herself. This was the perfect height for our very tall bed. I could go up and down these stairs without making it even slightly wobble. That is even with a missing screw in on of the legs - my fault for dropping the screw and not being able to find it. The stairs are also super soft so our kitty loves rubbing up against the stairs or just sitting on them.

Kitty's love it.
Our cat cannot jump as high as she used to. The stairs allow her to look out thr window just as if she had jumped up. Also coming down is so much easier for her now. Just walk down the stairs. She really loves her stairs.

Sturdy and easy to assemble
We purchased the grey stairs. It was so easy to assemble that my 11-year-old son was able to do most of it with my supervision. (He's super proud of himself now. :D ) These are the perfect solution for our senior cat now that she's starting to have a hard time climbing up on my bed. It's sturdy and doesn't take up a lot of space. This is a great product at a great price!

happy cat
Purchased to help my senior cat get up and down from the bed easier. It's Sturdy and all 3 levels have a shelf wide enough for a 10 pound cat to sit in loaf position. This design also gives kitty the option to hide under the stairs. Perfect for napping or paw slapping passing ankles. It can be built with only two levels (according to the directions) but the three stair height was what I needed. Easy to assemble and arrived with all necessary hardware.

Furhaven Pet Stairs
Our little furry baby is 12 years old and although she loves to jump everywhere, during the night sometimes she wants to jump off the bed and it's kind of high. She already had a bad hip since she was a puppy so I didn't want her to injure herself. For that reason I decided it was time to get her some stairs for the bed. My husband assembled it easily and it's perfect for her. Our bed is relatively high from the ground and the stairs are at a perfect height. We have a foam mattress and a box spring to give an idea. We are training her to take the stairs. She's not totally sold on the idea but she'll get there. Those stairs could support me! I was trying to show her they were nice. Haha. The product arrived before the date and in great condition.

Absolutely the best we’ve found.
We are SO happy with these stairs. This is the fifth (!) set of stairs we’ve tried, as well as a ramp, and this is exactly what we’ve been searching for. They are sturdy, the perfect height, and the way they are built is so nice because you can see through them. It’s not like having something SOLID at the end of our bed. So visually it doesn’t seem to take up as much space. We’ve had foam stairs, plastic stairs, wooden stairs, fold out stairs and the ramp. These stairs are perfect! Our dog finally can get on and off our bed with CONFIDENCE!! Just buy them, these are the ones you are looking for.

Exactly what I wanted
I have only just assembled these so I can’t comment on longevity but I am really impressed with this item out of the box. I have a 10 year old cat who has started to show some signs of arthritis in her legs and a bit of difficulty jumping up on my bed, so I wanted to buy some stairs to make it easier on her. Most of the options I found were plastic or wood and didn’t go with my decor at all, so I was really happy to find these even though I had to pay a bit more for shipping to Australia. The stairs seem sturdy and were easy to assemble. My cat is 5-6kg and I have no concern about them supporting her, they could probably support a small child. The plush covering is very soft! I have already prompted my cat to go up and down them a few times and she’s gotten the hang of it, so I’m hopeful this will take stress off her legs.

Almost perfect
The unit arrived promptly. Easy to assemble.Sturdy as it could be expected to be.Suits our purpose. One thing, ugly screws with no plastic covers detract from what otherwise would be a nice looking unit.Including plastic covers for the screw heads would be a great addition.
