Perfect for putting skates on quickly
Easy to put on and not too different from regular skates that they weren't easy to learn. My 5 almost 6 year old figured it out pretty fast. He has an odd shaped foot so regular skates wouldn't fit. These were the fix!!! He was feeling a little different at the rink and the other kids all wanted to try his skates because "they are so cool" and he didn't feel self conscience anymore. Would purchase again

My son prefers to rent the roller rink's skates so far. Not as much ankle support as real skates.
I bought these for my 6 year old. He loves to Ripstik, but he doesn't like these as much. He used them at the skating rink with a "skate pal" and I had attached the washers that make them slow down and he had fun, but he much prefers to Ripstik. I mostly bought them for riding around our unfinished basement, where the kids love to bike, Ripstick, and skate. They are high quality and easy to adjust, but they lack the ankle support in the same places as rental skates.

Will be fun, will last.
Takes wider stance than expected. Skates are well-made. Practice using the break.

Some quality and usability issues, but not bad...
I bought these for the kids and the S1 for myself. From a quality perspective, they appear to be solid, but there are two design choices that may ultimately limit durability. The first is that the front ratcheting strap is two pieces, made of rubber and joined under the skate by a plate. On one of the skates, the strap came off on the second use. Either the plate was missing from the outset or it came off. I contacted Cardiff and surprisingly this is not a serviceable part. Although they are sending a new skate after providing photo evidence, I'm concerned that this will be a weak point after the warranty period is done as the regular pressure of ratcheting the strap against the plate will eventually loosen the connection or it will tear. This should have been a user serviceable part and it's not clear why this couldn't just be a single strap threaded around the bottom to avoid this mending process altogether. The second issue is that depending on where the retracting mechanism stops for the size of your foot, the foot plates click together while skating and I'm already seeing some damage from this friction. Hopefully this doesn't cause the platform to break over time, but we'll see. Not sure how engineering didn't address this, but it is what it is. My rollerblades from the 90's are still going strong because I could replace parts easily, not sure these will be around as long.As for the skating, they are a very solid platform to stand on. No foot discomfort as you might get with inline skates. The skating itself is quite difficult if you are used to inline skates. The rear of the skates are very heavy and balanced differently than inline skates. You also need to skate in a wider stance and turn differently. As a longtime user of rollerblades, I'm finding it difficult to adjust to these. For my kids, however, there hasn't been any adjustment at all. They are taking to them like a fish to water and skating very well. They have never used inline skates. The fact that we can skate to the park and then they can take them off to play is a great feature of this style.Overall, for the price, not a bad alternative, but also doesn't feel like a slam dunk choice depending on your circumstances.
