Jean Dubost Laguiole Knives with Real Horn Handles, Set of 6

Can be difficult to understand what's authentic and what's not...sort of like searching for the best middle eastern rug in a very tall stack. WAY more knock offs than not.This item was returned, as would've been others we considered. If you are looking for completely authentic Laguiole knives, expect to pay $100-130 per knife and buy them from authentic knife suppliers/experts you can find on the internet. If you check around on the internet, you'll find that this is a product category for which it's nearly impossible to make heads or tails... bone/horn is plastic, stampings are fake, bee means nothing. Hasps are thin or hollow. Knife not weighty. Metal cross fake... All the authenticity indicators have been knocked off. Bait and switch.I love Amazon...probably tough for them to know this stuff for every product. Maybe if they also carried sets of the real McCoy or have a way of telling you that lots of people make them lots of different ways (I guess that's why we help each other with reviews). Even the labeling saying that they're the real deal can be wrong. Pictures are wrong. Stop.... Just not authentic - This is a problem with the whole category - not just this specific product shown, distributor, or Amazon... we had same problem with a few different tries. Eventually found them in sets at site like Amara but not positive that these are authentic either -- you could contact them to find out. Also, we eventually bought them from a source in Colorado that gets them from a Washington source (?) but can't recall/find the names of this company.You might consider looking for "Forge de Laguiole", but again, the ones that are real horn, weighty, solid hasps, etc per above comments are in range of $100-130 per knife.Hope this is helpful. These ARE authentic Laguiole knives. The owners are French and purchase directly in France, thus keeping the costs much lower than others out there. We have even been on buying trips with the couple who purchase authentic antiques, Limouges boxes, and of course, Laguiole. You know no idea what you're talking about.... I have 2 sets of these and they are STUNNING. Provinces de France is as real as it gets.
