How to grow your own crystals chemistry
I chose to use distilled water as it says in the instruction manual this evening is the first evening I set up with growing my seed start crystals that I will use beyond this point we each other experiment I know that this is a time-consuming experiment as in time I mean waiting. So children under the age of I say 11 or 12 would lose interest with this quickly because there are some steps that you would have to go through and parents adults mainly would have to help because the chemicals like the UV reactive are some serious ones louder than that I have grown crystals before and thought I would give this can I try it does not speak in the review about getting your glass jars or yarn and you might want to pick up extra time presses because it only comes with three and in the starting point of this kit the first face requires three jars but other than that something fun and something to look forward to so I give it a 5-star rating so far hoping to get some brilliant crystals out of this!

Easy instructions and a lot of fun!
I love how easy the instructions are to follow on the experiments. Be careful with glow powder on your hands, I learned that out the hard way. My hands glowed for a couple days while I was doing experiments with it.But in the end was fun and guaranteed great results! Great for kids 8+.

Fairly advanced set. Make sure you’re ready for safety.
I bought this set for my 7yo. It’s my fault for not reading the description and suggested age range, but this is far more advanced than I expected. It definitely requires adult supervision due to the chemicals and elements being used. I wasn’t comfortable letting my kid handle the ingredients so they were disappointed in the experience. It’s probably great for older kids, though.

Lots of Experimenting Fun with Clear Directions
The Thames & Kosmos Crystal Growing kit is a fun and interactive kit for kids to teach them the basics of chemical reactions. The fun thing about this kit is that you can make shapes, including stars and butterflies, mushrooms and moons - along with phosphorescent crystals and they include a UV light to see it. It comes with a 32-page color guide which is very informative.Overall, this is a little young for my 12-year-old as far as the advanced science part of it. But, she enjoyed it. Make sure to have distilled water on hand, along with bowls, jars, spoons - that kind of thing. If you have candy trays you can use those instead of what they come with.

Messy, hazardous and doesn't even work
The crystals didn't grow, and the materials were not only hazardous (warning not to do the experiments in the kitchen - so where does a kid without a garage or basement do them??) but the purple pigment is unbelievably messy. It's almost impossible to get the cap open and if you spill even a few tiny specks beware - you will be cleaning for hours. I just found another few grains of this stuff three weeks after we did the experiments and it caused another half hour cleaning session. In my opinion it's completely irresponsible to even include a substance like this in a toy for children.
