Absolutely awful - don't buy!
Forewarned is forearmed - don't touch this with a bargepole. The dreadful chemical smell attacked my nostrils as soon as I opened the bottle and wouldn't go away. I thought that it might improve in a steam diffuser but was wrong. The ghastly aroma filled the house making it smell like a cheap perfume store.I use something that smells nicer than this to strip the varnish off my fingernails. It's been about as close to Japan as I have. The manufacturers wouldn't be able to tell you if it had been produced by the steam distillation or the enflourage method as it smells like something that wouldn't be out of place in a large glass flask (well stoppered to prevent damage to those working there) in a chemical plant! No idea how to get rid of it as down the sink would just pollute the water. Landfill doesn't seem a sensible option either but I won't be using it again and certainly wouldn't give a fresh bottle to anyone I liked. If you're after a really good gardenia scent go for the real thing. If you're worried that you couldn't provide appropriate growing conditions try one of the companies who make Japanese incense. They're easy to find online and might seem expensive for something that only burns for about 20 minutes but they do smell gorgeous and you can buy a pack for a good price to see if you like it.Wouldn't use this company for anything in the future!
