Works even BEHIND the camera, Power-saver, easy to use
Works with Sony A7II - even from BEHIND the camera. That's awesome. Many other remotes require that you stand in front of it and point the remote directly at the IR sensor. Lame. But not so with this Sony remote. What a great little tool! "Great" because it does all the things it should do well: take photos remotely, start video (remember, you must put your CAMERA in video mode first), it lets you pull up Menu, and call up that good ol' histogram on your Sony camera all with the press of a button.I LOVE that this remote automatically goes into power-saving mode. This means you won't drain your batteries when you're not using it. The cheaper, simpler competitor remote here on Amazon doesn't go into auto power saving and that results in constantly dead batteries. Not so with this one.And "little" because it's really quite small. Some might consider it too tiny but Sony thought of putting a little cutout on the back of it that allows you to feed a little sling through it so you can put it on your keychain or attach a key charm to it, or even attach it to one of your camera bag's zippers.Very happy with this remote. It lets you do shake-free exposures, even long ("bulb") exposures, timed selfies, and it works from just about any angle, whether behind or in front of your Sony. I think it's worth every penny.

Works on the A6400.
This remote is worth every penny for one reason, shutter button to take photos or start/stop videos. I have the A6400 with the 18-105 OSS G lens. Man is the zoom really slow with this remote. So yeah, probably won't be using it for zoom in videos. Super smooth but moves the zoom about 1mm per every 2-3 seconds. You'll get there, but it may be past your supper time when you do. I watched a few videos on it and it shows the zoom working much faster on other cameras so I don't know if it's just my model or if I need to change some settings on my camera. And being infrared, it really only works if you are standing in front of the camera or off to the side. Or maybe you can bounce the signal off a shiny car or glass to get it to work from behind the camera. Great for portraits if you have the camera on a tripod and you are standing off to the side trying to get a baby to smile. But it's perfect if you are doing a vlog and don't want to have to get up, lean over and start the recording. Which is why I bought it. For the price! Worth it.

This one to get!
As any savvy shopper, I asked myself "Why pay more" when similar knock-offs perform just the same. I bought a similar remote and it was an absolute disaster to use. Sometimes it worked then it didn't, it worked on inches away from the camera and only when I pointed it to the receiver sensor. When I lost it I decided to try a real thing. Oh, my! Never again I am going to save a dime on this type of equipment. It is fantastic - always working. From any angle and from any distance. What a joy! Thank you, Sony!

Works and is a steal for the price
I am using a Sony a6500 and this remote allows me to start, stop, playback and delete, pull up a menu, focus in and out and take pictures. Follow me on my YouTube channel ( OndaWire ) where I do full video reviews on everything tech. This remote is great. I love the fact that I now don’t have to keep running back and forth to the camera. Lol The only thing I couldn’t figure out how to work was the print feature.I WILL SAY, this does what I need it to do, so I'm more than happy. Plus for the price, it's a steal. The BIG pro is the distance. I was several feet away and this remote still worked like a charm. It also worked from side and underneath angles, which I loved. I would definitely recommend it for sure!

Great addition to your Sony Mirrorless Camera
I was originally on the fence about purchasing this as I thought i was a bit pricey for $30. But once I got it, I found it to be worth it. It's designed specifically for Sony Cameras and it works well with my A6300, A6500 and A7R3. The range on this is great and I can use it behind the camera with no problem.I'm able to use all the buttons and they are very functional. The buttons for the video portion works well if you have the camera hooked up to your tv or monitor. You can use your SonyPlayMemories app for alot of the functionality but this thing helps when you need to be perfectly still and don't want to touch the shutter, With every show you take by pressing the shutter button on the camera the camera moves, if even slightly.. This remote will remedy that.Great accessory to have.

Does not work with Sony a6100 (No IR Sensor)
When doing an internet search for a remote for the Sony a6100 this specific remote kept coming up as an option. After buying it and not finding a remote function on the a6100 that isn’t wifi or Bluetooth I did some research online. I’ve found out after much smoke and mirrors that the a6100 does not have an IR sensor. The camera relies on a smartphone app or Bluetooth if you want a wire free remote. I am especially disappointed as this fact is also quite hard to deduce from Sony’s documentation on their website. I’m sure this is a great product for cameras that have IR sensors, but this is marketed for Sony alpha cameras and the truth is that not all of them are compatible. This is also more confusing because the lower tier a6000 supports this remote! I am rather disappointed about how much sleuthing I had to do on various forums and websites to get a straight answer. Even the a6100 manual documentation is vague and does not mention that there is no IR sensor in this product. Suffice it to say, this product will be returned promptly.BTW - the Official Sony app Shutter costs $16.99 USD and Camrote, which does connect to the Sony a6100 shuts off the autofocus for some reason making it useless. Also, a wifi remote on a smartphone can be one of the most unreliable connections so I wouldn’t recommend either for professional work.
