AirtexE3518M Fuel Pump Module Assembly

This Fuel Pump. R.I.P. May 12, 2018 - Sept 9, 2022. It just died and left me in the middle of an intersection in town. Had to get out and push car out of the intersection during rush hour traffic. I never run my gas under 1/4 of a tank, because I know that the gas keeps the pump cool. But that didn't matter. I noticed when I turned the key on before I started the engine thay you could hear a loud whinning noise from the trunk. Now I know that it was the fuel pump saying, "I'm going to leave you stranded". A guy helped me push it across the steet to the repair shop and my RV park manager was driving by and gave me a ride home. I will go with AC Delco or Delphi fuel pume for now on.

Much better price than from local parts stores - pump is proper fit and functions well. I had an issue with new "O" ring. Used the one supplied but was slightly larger I.D. and did not seat properly - resulted in fuel leaking. Had to remove pump and reinstall with my original "O" ring and now all is well. I also soldered all the new connections and applied shrink tube as I have little confidence in using the crimp-type butt connectors supplied. Don't really see the advantage with their "improved" connector - my original connector and pump lasted 191,000 miles with no indication of corrosion. Biggest challenge is removing the locking ring on the Aurora to access pump. Fabricated a spanner for the 2nd removal. Yes - I would purchase again, especially when dealer wanted about $600 to replace including their $480 pump!

High quality replacememt. Came with crimp on butt connectors for the new wiring harness but I'd recommend soldering the wires together and be sure to use heat shrink tubing! Restored the fuel prrssure and the gauge is finnally correct. Good instructions. CLEAN THE AREA WELL OF ALL DEBRIS LIKE DIRT SAND RUST ETC BEFORE REMOVEAL OF LOCK RING!! Be aware the old one your removing may have to be cut up with shears to remove if it won't fit through the opening. Was faster than taking a chance in deformity the opening on the tank. 3 diff. O-rings provided just match your to it. The lock ring, lots of penny rating lube!! Buy a new lock ring ahead of time and use a big hammer and chisel. Lots of lube on O-rings and ring to aid in reassembly! Tip do the wiring after new pump is in and lines hooked up. Vent the trunk for a bit for fumes then do the wires and youll need cut them down to size as they are way to long...split wire loom them after for trouble free years.

Bought my son a nice Buick for his first car. Big and safe. But the fuel gauge stopped working, a common issue on the LeSabre. Replaced the entire unit, even though the pump was working fine. The entire unit was cheaper than buying the fuel level assembly!!! One caveat- you will have to replace one connector and will need tools to strip and crimp the wires. Step by step instructions were included, and apparently the old style connector has caused some problems. Fuel pump is very quiet and seemed well made. My son got a price of 600 to fix the fuel gauge. With this I did both, and a new fuel filter for about a TENTH of that quote. The airtex warranty is for as long as you own the car, so that's a double win.

So all the flaws of the original have been fixed, they unit is quite and makes more pressure and flow than stock for a 2003 Buick Lesabre. The package includes a wiring harness to splice in if you have the old style as i did. I would recommend using if you are splicing this in to use Dielectric grease to prevent moisture from oxidizing the wires. The one Complaint I have is not fault of this unit, but rather GM, they make the hole the FP goes through just slightly smaller than the unit, so be prepared to deal with splashing fuel. Other wise this was an excellent purchase.

I had it installed at the corner auto repair shop which took about 45 minutes. My car is a 2002 Cadillac Deville and fortunately for me the pump is accessed through a portal plate in the trunk. Some Deville's may not have this option requiring removal of the fuel tank at a much higher labor cost. The mechanic said he had to upgrade the electrical connector in the car to a newer version that matches the one on the pump. He said the newer connector was a design improvement. It was only installed 3 weeks ago but so far has worked perfectly. I am very pleased.

Pump lasted for about a year and a half. Left me stranded one day after it was just working. It is super noisy when it primes you can hear it really loud. Down side I have to now purchase another one since they don't sale just the pump individually.👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
