Pleatco PWK65 Replacement Cartridge for Watkins Hot Spring Spas Upgrade from PWK45N, 1 Cartridge

Order this filter every year or so as the older ones wear out. (I keep 3 on hand and rotate them) It never disappoints. Good quality, perfect fit, easy to clean... as easy as filters are to clean.

From my experience, your mileage may vary. You can't run this filter for more than a week at a time without letting it dry out in between. On whole it is a good filter for the price. I like the larger holes for better flow, whereas the original Watkins filter only has small holes thru the core. But the Pleatco's larger lattice structure makes the overall filter more flimsy. The long-term use problem comes from the filter fabric material. It seems to expand which greatly reduces flow!I clean and swap filters weekly. I cleaned the Pleatco thoroughly but decided to run it another week. So I reinstalled it, hit clean mode, and tossed in some chlorine crystals above the filter. I was shocked to see them just settle gently on top of the filter! Normally they are sucked down immediately from the vacuum force, but they just drifted down. I checked the output pressure on the jets and it wasn't as strong. I put the Watkins filter in and no problem. I can run the Watkins week after week without fail. I observed the same behavior on the run, and decided I only dare run the Pleatco for a week.The Pleatco filter is good, and maybe its slowly expanding fibers can catch some finer debris, but prolonged serial use could overheat the pump. I still use the Pleatco as a stand-in for a few days while I let the Watkins filters dry out. So for cost and effectiveness and general quality, it is a 5-star, but be careful not to run them for too long without letting them dry between weekly uses, which is best practice any way.

Fits great, filters well, this is the 4th one on order. I always keep an extra on hand, this is for my hot tub.

IMO just as good as original equipment. Spa is clean and that’s all that really matters. Nice to save $$$
