wanted this for the charge pipe after the turbo, that is right next to the turbo... my temps went up, most likely due to the oem plastic pipe not cooling off since the wrap trapped heat from inside the pipe more than not wrapped... i ended up getting a motorcycle exhaust shield, that is open on one half of pipe, this actually helped lower temps, as it shielded it from heat from the turbo yet also let it cool off on the far side of the pipe.maybe if used preturbo in which the air in the pipe is cool and outside is hot.

Worth the time. But not easy install.
I have a 96 Chevrolet Blazer and bought this product to put on my cold air intake I ordered from Ebay. With having angled piped pieces it was very hard to make the wrap fit okay. I had to cut it for two angled pipe pieces which was very time consuming. But hey every car has different piping pieces. Now for the POSITIVE side: I was curious to see how it could withstand extreme heat as advertised on the box, so with the wrap on the pipe I took it to a heat gun full blast and put my hand on the inside to feel if and when it gets warm. It took about 15 seconds from being really cold to just barely getting warm. Once barely warm inside I touched the outside of the wrap to see how hot that was. Well... that was a dumb idea, because it was like touching a hot pan not knowing the burner was on, it was HOT! It is nothing that an engine bay will ever experience throughout the seasons. I was pretty impressed so far. Now for the TEST DRIVE: most cars accelerate better when they're cold right? Because the engines not warm and can suck up cold air? Well mine always has, and with the engine at operating temperature, acceleration felt exactly the same as when its cold. BOTTOM LINE: good product, but its not a universal application. Better for straighter intake pipes

A little cutting is required at the bends but still does the job that it is intended to do. I used the same tape that is used to seal the joints on sheet metal flue piping to seal joints. This tape is readily available from hardware stores etc..

No more heat soak
Works well, after a 45 min drive my cold air intake tube was so heat soaked that you could barely put your hand on it, now you can touch it after a dive with no problem.I took my time while doing this. For the straight pieces I measured the heat wrap and cut accordingly but for the curved parts I cut thin strips, layered them over one another and for the gaps I covered them with heat tape.

Perfect for its intended function
It keeps engine bay heat away from the intake. I have a radiator hose right under my intake that actually touches. This product really works!

I can feel the difference
I had read about this product and decided to try it after I felt how hot the metal tube of my air intake was after a drive out. It wasn't very easy to install. I had to cut some pieces and buy some extra foil tape (same manufacturer) to make it fit. I also added an Injen metal heatshield for the filter. I will try and post a picture. I'm happy with it, and I would do it again.

... intake manifold without heat soak I would totally rapper recommend wrapping any metal intake tube with this plastic intake .
Wrap this around my metal cold air intake tube and it brought the temperature of that tube down well over 125° difference if not weigh more than that providing much colder air into the intake manifold without heat soak I would totally rapper recommend wrapping any metal intake tube with this plastic intake tubes to not get as hot as the metal does because it does not conduct

I used this to protect a silicon coupler coming off my turbo outlet from radiant heat of the exhaust manifold. The material is fine, it should do the job as it is designed to reject heat. The product works great on straight piping but a bit difficult to get on curved piping. I had to cut into 2 pieces and tape the overlap (no tape was supplied with mine, but I had some).I am only giving it 3 stars because one of the specs is it was designed cut to size however cutting the velcro strips causes the stitching to start unraveling.
