OyaideBR-12 Turntable Mat (includes a Strobo disc and overhang gauge)

While I would not call it amazing, this is a good mat. It basically lifts the outer edge of the LP (with a record weight applied) by one degree. This is good for some warped records as it forces them into a playable position. One caveat though is that you really need to play with anti-skate settings and probably will need to exceed the typical number match equated with tracking force. Why is this? Because on a flat mat the needle is already travelling toward the inner groove (left channel) faster than it moves away from the outer one (right channel) and when you add an inward slope it is now moving toward the center at even an higher rate. Start low with anti-skate and keep going up until both channels sound clear and dynamic. Otherwise you may hear some unwanted distortion in the right channel. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the mat itself generates some static that I haven't experienced with most other I've tried. It could be the rubber, it could be the tungsten embedded in the material. Every time I pulled a record off this mat (with or without a record weight) I hear the sound of crackles which I don't really care for.

Nice mat. The material works very well to dampen any ring from my aluminum platter. The slight concave design combined with a record clamp really helps give your stylus a solid surface to work with. I am not aware of any other record mat with this concave design, which is also integrated into some expensive turntable platters.

I have been using this on my Technics 1200 for over a year now. At this point, I would not use anything else. Bear in mind this mat is not going to be compatible with all turntables and must be used with a record clamp or weight of some sort.As mentioned by others, it has a subtle concave effect and is made of 6mm thick rubber blended with tungsten. The mat has great damping properties for aluminum platters and seems to clean up the sound in a very subtle way. Not for everyone maybe, but a great product for me personally.Note the price of this mat can fluctuate quite a bit, so shop around for a good deal if you want one.
