ProdigyGlucose Monitor Kit - Includes Prodigy Meter, 100ct test strips, 10ct Lancets, Lancing device, Carrying Case, Log Book

I purchased the meter to keep check of my blood glucose, started a new diet to manage type 2. The kit arrived well packaged and with an abundant amount of test strips and needles. I did not set my meter up, I just wrote my numbers down on the log sheet supplied with the kit. I think the voice that reads out the levels and the auto shut off when the test strip is removed is a value in itself. Now here is the stumbling block, how accurate is it? I have had one extremely high reading, it could have been accurate or not, I did not recheck, I just accepted it and went on from there. If your blood glucose or type 2 is at the critical level where your health/life depends on accurate numbers, splurge for a meter suggested by your doctor. Otherwise it is a great starter kit and simple to use.

This monitor is simple to use and very effective. It’s as simple as a three step process. Turn the monitor on, insert test strip and do a finger prick and apply blood. Seems to be very accurate. I would highly recommend

Not much to say-this glucose monitor is a breeze to use, and I really like the talking voice to let me know if it's ready for my sample. I recommend this unit over others I've used in the past.

After being unable (again) to get appropriate test strips at Walmart I gave up and decided to replace everything and use Amazon's subscription service. I decided on this monitor based on reviews and the ready availability of test strips. For the first couple of weeks I compared readings on both my old and new monitors, and after satisfying myself of it's accuracy I started using the Prodigy monitor exclusively. I check my glucose levels 2 times daily, or 3 if I've eaten something that I'm concerned about. It's simple to set and simple to use, and so far I'm very happy with it. Just one thing I'm not pleased with ... It eats batteries. At least I hope that's all it is. It takes 2 AAA batteries and after a few days less than 2 months they need replacing. The monitor still functions, but suddenly I'm getting readings so high that I should be in a coma. Or dead ...199 for my afternoon reading after a normal lunch that usually gives me a reading of about 112. Unfortunately I don't have any new AAAs in the house so I won't be able to take care of the issue until tomorrow sometime. The last time this happened on a monitor it was just weak batteries, so fingers crossed. I don't want to have to replace it again after only 2 months of use.EDIT: After changing the batteries it began working fine, so the issue was entirely weak batteries. Be sure to have spare AAAs before you buy.

My hubby has had this model for years. So, when my daughter had her bloodwork done, she found that she was borderline diabetic, we ordered this one for her since it works so well. It is audible, is easy to use and the test strips aren't too expensive for later purchases.
