The Blues Had a Baby
Nice photos, and overall pretty good coverage of the subject, but many hot artists are omitted. That's probably because they were one-hit wonders on obscure record labels. I regard this book as a cool coffee table book, rather than a comprehensive reference. If this parchment heats up your jets, hit YouTube and the Web for more. There are some great CD collections too. Just keep a boppin' dad, because Betty Lou's got herself some brand new shoes, and Rock 'n Roll Ruby won't be waitin' forever. Git it, pardner, git it!

Great book design, too
I'm a classic C+W fan, so there were many groups here I was unfamiliar with. But there are some classic pioneers like Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and the unfairly forgotten Jack Scott. Beautifully designed, large format book, with images of concert posters, music sheets, album covers and ticket stubs to enhance the stories. Some top music critics chime in, some coherent and some...not so much. But plenty to make you seek out the past masters on recordings and the many groups keeping the music alive today.

THE Rockabilly BIBLE!
It's an AMAZING book, with thorough, DETAILED articles (a whole section on the ES-295!) and tons of color and B&W photos. It also has a super, fact-revealing article on Grady Martin and the truth about the Johnny Burnette & The Rock'n'Roll Trio recordings, written by Vince Gordon of the Jime. And it has a cool cut-out hard cover design. If you like rockabilly and its history, you will LOVE this; would make a great Christmas/Chanukkah gift as well. A+++ for this book!!!

Rockabilly
I am a school tour guide at RCA Studio B in Nashville. I enjoy reading about artists that recorded at Studio B such as Elvis, Roy Orbison and many others. I highly recommend this book. The book arrived in a timely manner and is in excellent condition.

Rockabilly the twang heard round the world
What is Rockabilly? A lot of people don't know until they've heard it! Then it is unmistakeable,Everything else is like about six normal cars driving past you as you stand by the side of the road, when you hear that one car that sounds different, because it's snorting a V8 engine, that's Rockabilly! That's the difference! Electric.I love this book, it has so many great pictures, some familiar and some not, it covers the early styles of music that mutated into something great, a bit like a recipe that gained a bit here and a bit there until it just went off like some wild dish when it hit the spot. You can find many of the names mentioned in this book on youtube videos, go check them out and just listen to those great atmospheric songs with slapping bass, echo laden vocals and twangy guitars. Some of the most exciting you'll ever hear, and like I say, 'If your feets ain't movin.' it's cause you're dead.' (Musically)So I'd say go and buy this, the hardback version is superb, a great read and I've learned a lot from it, also see the book Straight from the Fridge Dad about Hipster swing, and the book Rocket in my Pocket, both great reads.Of course you may already know Elvis, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran and Carl Perkins, But delve deeper into this subject and you'll end up listening to some really hot rockin' cats, from 50's originals to the people making the music today that sounds as fresh as it ever did. Dig this, just dig it!

A very comprehensive and enthralling coverage of the history of rockabilly with illustrations and some personal notes by the writer on his interviews, sometimes giving a different slant from the "legends".
