Far Cry

What in the wold is going on? From some nice camera shots, to the oddly comical and ridgid dialogue, to the hyper unreal shootouts, all the way to the super random sex scene, there is something for everyone in this package. I know nothing about the video game but I am 100% sure its not this movie. I stuck around mostly because I wanted to see what was going to happen to the guy from Gladiator and to try and figure out how I knew the main female lead (she was a regular on Smallville). Honestly its worth one watch, but it was bad enough where I had no interest in going back to actually answer my question.. what in the world is going on?

This film reminds me of a 1980's action film. Action and over the top humor (and some acting). What is not to love. It was enjoyable.

Not the greatest movie but it was worth sticking it out til the end. Humor and silly but the actors got the base story to make sense and I enjoyed it.

From the best, and from the worst. The one thing I appreciate about Uwe Boll is that he makes the movie he wants to see. Still uses a lot of practical effects and stunts which give films an authentic feel.

This is an awesome movie based on one of my most favorite video games, Far Cry. It has good action, some humor, and it sticks pretty true to the original plot of the game. Overall, it is a fun, lighthearted B-movie.PLOT: Former German special forces operator turned tour boat contractor Jack Carver is hired by journalist Valerie Cardinal to transport her to an island. Her contact has been feeding her information about a scientist named Dr. Krieger who is supposedly performing genetic experiments on humans. Upon arrival Valerie is captured and Jack's boat blown up. Now stranded, they must find a way to escape while fighting off mercenaries and Krieger's greatest creation: genetically modified superhuman soldiers.RANT: I had never even heard of Uwe Boll before I was deciding wether or not to buy this movie. I looked around the internet and this guy seems to get a lot of crap from raging fanboys. Apparently he is hated because he takes video games and turns them into crap movies. I haven't seen any of his other video game movies so I can't say if they are truly as bad as people claim. He makes B-movies and you have to adjust your expectations when viewing these as they aren't supposed to be box office hits and are generally low budget. Far Cry is a great B-movie so I gave it five stars because it is highly entertaining and deserves at least three stars. I'm still pleasantly surprised that a Far Cry movie was even made at all. Fans of the game should appreciate Boll's attempt at turning their game into a movie. Wether you think that attempt was a good one or a bad one is up to you. Watch it and judge for yourself.

We start out with a very interesting premise, great setting with beautiful scenery, an almost believable reporter trying to save her uncle from a bad situation. We find out the bad situation is a typical Mad Scientist with a big bank roll. Then things start to fall apart. The hero is presented as a pretty rough sort with a heart of gold by the improbable story end and minimal interpersonal skills. If we had stopped here this could have been a three star action movie with the potential for a low budget bonus star. BUT, the action, the bad guys ineptitude versus the good guys indestructibility starts to hurt the plot and action. Every additional scene adds increasing incredulity to the story to the point where all I was waiting for was the ending credits. Then the ending credits roll by and I see the reason for the destruction of what could have been an average movie: "Directed by Uwe Boll." All was then revealed and I remembered why his movies almost all appear to be exactly everything I find most distasteful in a movie.

There are few similarities between the "Far Cry" game and Uwe Boll's travesty, and that by itself is a disappointment, but even if you aren't a fan of the "Far Cry" franchise, this movie leaves everything to be desired. Bad acting, horrible dialog, lackluster choreography and special effects, and marginal editing leave a mediocre musical score the best thing about Boll's "Far Cry." Don't waste your time with this one. It'll just leave you feeling disappointed.

I bought this after watching the trailer and knowing the videogame. I paid £1.27 which was worth it. However I wouldn't pay much more, the action, violence and gore is good, and the characters. However the acting/dialogue lets it down a bit and some of the action gets a bit dull. It's worth watching for action and entertainment but don't pay more than £3-4.

I don't know why but I like this movie specially with the American couple looking for the whales lol

This is one Uwe Boll's first few movies that I actually enjoyed, the action was really old school kind of like what you would see in an 80's movie & story wasn't bad either.
