Ademco Honeywell 5811 Thin Door/Window Contact Transmitter

Leave a comment if you have any questions and I can either take some photos or give more details.I purchased 11 of these sensors to monitor the windows in my house and one sliding glass door.My experience has been mostly positive. I broke one of the sensors trying to get it open to change the battery.As a tip; if you need to change a battery try using one of the tools you would use to open a paint can. The curved end fits into the sensor to open it almost effortlessly. Then the tool will also fit under the battery to pop it out almost just as easy. I have one dedicated for this purpose now.I used the included 3m tape to install on both the windows and the sliding glass door. MAke sure your sliding glass door is fully closed or if it has any play in it when closed try and account for that otherwise the sensor may smack the frame and go flying if it closes too much.Because it's a button battery; in case it goes flying when you pop it out if possible you might want to change it in a different room then a young child's room. This way if you drop it or loose it when changing or installing the battery there's less of a change they could find it and eat it. It's a bigger button battery but I still had that fear when my kids 1yo to 3yo when I installed the system.Range has been good. It's able to cross the house and go up a floor with no worries.Battery life was better then expected. I got 26 months on the CR2032 batteries included when I bought them. One thing I've noticed is if you live in cold weather you may experience shorter than expected battery life. As the temperature drops it seems to trip the low battery sensor alert. I've seen it clear when the temperature warmed back up.One thing to help keep your sensors recorded is to take the sticker from the back and tape it to your security panel insuruction manual notes page. This way you have everything recorded in case you re-do or move the system to a new location. Or if the alarm company calls and tells you a sensor is having problems. I then take a picture of the notes page with my phone in case I loose the instruction book.Response time has been almost instant from the time the sensor is tripped to the time the panel receives the alert. I have a second add on panel for my system up stairs. I find that has maybe a 2 second delay from where the sensor is tripped, it alerts the main panel and the main panel sends off a signal to the add on panel. If your setup is similar you might notice that too.I would buy this again. I was looking to get two more but noticed It looks like this is is being replaced by the 5800MINI sensor. I'll be buying a couple of those to test them out on my setup.

I have used these for work. It is nice that they are slim. Battery seems on par with 5816. I prefer 5816 when possible, the range is slightly greater.

I used the double sided tape. Very thin. Easy to install. I have direct line of sight to my RF panel approximately 50'away. One thing i did learn was that the magnet should be on the moving part (like the door) and the Larger section (with the built in circuit board) should be on the frame. This is so that the circuit board doesn't get jarred too much.

Extremely easy to install and set up. Using the 5811 with the new Honeywell Lyric security system. These contacts have a very low profile and mount to my double hung windows really well. Installation is as easy as inserting the battery, go into Program mode on your security system and simply add the new contact.

Works great! I have them in every window and door in my house (on perimeter). Works great!!!

Hook up was a breeze on this, had order additional units to cover other area...love it...

So small, but it works. Very Discreet. No issues thus far, 6 months now.
