Sounds good!
Excellent product, it took me about 45 minutes to install and that is that I took my time. Maintains the stock look of the bike. The sound is amazing! The Cobra pipe really brings out that V Twin rumble but not so loud that it becomes annoying. When you install this you really need to purchase a Cobra Fi2000r O2 to go with it. The bike is already set to a very lean setting. This will allow you to adjust that, and feel the true performance this bike has. It allows you to get rid if the annoying backfire the bike tends to have due to the lean setting. with the pipe and controller the engine runs cooler and improves gas mileage. I believe this is a must purchase for this bike. You will enjoy the smooth performance so much more than stock. Add an after market air filter and you are done. This is worth every penny without any doubt. If you are unsure of installing this yourself check out the videos on youtube. This is a very simple and easy project that only takes a couple of hours and will bring you a great deal of joy. I love the sound and so does everyone I ride with.

Happy cobra slip-on muffler buyer😎
I held off to long in buying these pipes as I bought this bike new in 07. The company that I bought them from sent them before the shipping date promised and at a great price. I had seen some reviews that said that they were a bit loud and they had to put on quieter baffles on them. I was surprised at how easy they were to put on and the install was as easy as cobra claimed. They sound great and look great. I didn't have to do any other mods to air or tune anything. I do plan on doing some of that next year. Like I said I'm not always too happy with some items I get but I justify it with you get what you pay for. I'm happy to say that for a change I couldn't be happier. If anyone is on the fence about these pipes make the jump you won't regret it. I am riding my bike more now than before and I'm enjoying how the bike runs and sounds. If I had to make a complaint it would be that I now have the mod bug and can't wait to do some more, that is not always the case with other items I've purchased 😡. Also I want to mention that I had given some thought to drilling out the baffles on the factory mufflers but new ones cost more than twice the amount I paid for the cobra ones and in the future if I decide to sell the 1300 v-star I can sell it with both pipes. You never know what other people like so why take a chance on ruining the more expensive pipes and losing a sell in the future because they didn't want drilled out pips.

Great Upgrade. Highly recommended.
Found it very easy to install overall. The hardest part was getting all the bolts loose. I have a flat foot stand for the back passenger that was blocking the top screw for the stock muffler so in my case I had to remove 5 total ( plus loosening the clamp screw ). I used a heat gun to soften the locktite and they came off much easier. Once The original was off i was able to change it in less than 10 minutes, The instructions say that i need to loosen the bolts for the pipes that attach to the engine but i found i did not need to do that at all. As for performance, wow what a difference. Its loud but not too Loud like open Vance and Hines pipes sound like.. This one has a happy medium of giving my Bike a nice rumble now but not loud enough that you can wake everyone up. I get the occasional crackle effect which i read can be solved by adding the Cobra tuner block but the effect isn't bad enough to warrant the extra expense plus i kinda like that effect. As for the installation I handled the new one with rubber gloves and inserted it while half of it was still in the bag to protect it from oils from my fingers and scratches. Also another piece of advice attach the bracket to the muffler first but keep the screws just loose enough that you can adjust the position. Then once in place you can just tighten them rather than fumble to get the screws lined up. Makes it A LOT easier.

From Wimpy Whirry sound to a Roar - Wow!
First, installation. This is a big deal for me. I have zero mechanical ability. When I gas up I pour it on the top of my car and hope it seeps in. Couldn't have been easier. Old stock exhaust came off with 3 bolts and loosening a clamp (5 minutes). The Cobra Exhaust has two bolts to connect the bracket to the muffler, two bolts to connect the bracket to the motorcycle, two small screws to attach the heat shield, and a clamp with one bolt to tighten to the front pipes. Took 20 minutes because I put the bracket on the exhaust wrong the first time. Otherwise it was a snap even for me. After I installed it I wiped off my fingerprints and started the motorcycle up. Instant gratification. My bike went from sounding like a kitten to roaring like a lion. The difference is amazing. I disagree with those who say it's too loud. Not at all. It's perfect. You can be heard and enjoy the sound of your ride. And, it might be my imagination because I don't hear the whirring sewing machine sound anymore but I felt like the bike had a boost in power. I had tried first to bore out the baffle in the stock exhaust and that made some difference but this is great. I'm a happy guy! I had a Cobra exhaust on my previous motorcycle (a Honda Shadow) and I really missed that sound.

The videos do not do it justice
Seriously, videos do not do this exhaust justice. I wanted noise so I could get noticed in traffic and a throaty tone. Everything hit right on the head perfectly. Its loud. I had a stock muffler that was drilled out, and it was maybe half this loud. If you put this side by side to some Harley's you couldn't tell the difference beside the puddle of oil under the Harley (kidding, kinda). The only problem that I encountered, was I accidentally cross threaded a bolt into the frame. It was completely my fault, I'm not saying it wasn't. The only thing I would change is a little bit more clearance in the mounting bracket holes. They were a little tight and I think that's why I started off crooked. Other than that, 10 to 15 minute install. Super easy, super loud, and in comparison to other brands, super reasonably priced. Well worth the money. I highly recommend these to anybody that has a V Star

Easy install, easy power
Easy install, lighter than stock. Noticeable increase in highway passing power, great throttle response. Barks loudly when you really get on it and settles into a big bike deep rumble on the cruise. No problems with the build quality. Didn't require flash or fuel tuner to work properly with the stock intake.
