It works
So I work for a class one railroad and when you get hired on as a Freight Conductor you are issued a radio, with that being said it worked fine up to about a mile. This antenna has increased that distance at least another half mile if not more depending upon certain factors of course. I had to walk my train the other day and it was well over 2 miles long and my engineer heard me loud and clear past the 2mile mark. I like it my only concern is will the folding back and forth stand up to the test of time.

It works!
Oh, I love this antenna! When I go down a hill into a hole during search and rescue training, and incident command can't hear me, I screw on this big antenna and then they say "loud and clear."

Better than I expected
So I bought this thinking it was an Abree antenna. But it works and looks great. It gets the signal out very nicely which surprised me. Added to my list of brands that don’t stink list.

Not on frequency at 2m and SWR high at 70cm
RigExpert AA-600 used for analysis. While HYS TC-771FG and TC-771FR tape antennas are excellent dual-band antennas, this longer TC-80N kinda sucks. 2m resonation is at 138MHz and SWR at 70cm is over 3:1. Dunno where HYS dropped the ball, but don't buy this one!

very good ant for 2meter---- on 440mhz the ant is not real cut for 70cm--- but it will work

Terrible signal reports, don’t buy
I have two Baofeng BF-F8HP handhelds. I attached the HYS Foldable CS Tactical Antenna SMA Female Dual Band VHF UHF 144/430Mhz 31.5-Inch Antenna (the antenna I’m reviewing) to one, and the Nagoya NA-771 whip to the other. Results:The HYS Foldable CS Tactical Antenna SMA Female Dual Band VHF UHF 144/430Mhz 31.5-Inch Antenna has terrible signal reports. In fact, most stations couldn’t even hear me on 2M simplex. The Nagoya NA-771, on the other hand, attached to an identical handheld, same time, same propagation conditions, had good reports from those same stations. To make sure it wasn’t a difference between the radios, I swapped the antennas and got the same result.Lastly, I had both radios side by side monitoring frequency (2 meter) and consistently could hear transmissions on the Nagoya, but nothing at all on the HYS.So... don’t buy this antenna. I’m a licensed ham, not going to share my call sign on Amazon but that’s my review.***Adding to the review on June 8, 2019***When I attempted to return the item I learned that I will have to pay for postage, too. So it’s not really a full refund. Do not buy.
