From Good to Grace: Letting Go of the Goodness Gospel

Wow! All I can say is WOW! This past two years of my life has been a transition out of the goodness gospel, and because of this book, I now I have a practical definition of what to call it. As I read this book I was constantly nodding my head yes, yes, this is what God has been showing me in His word, in worship, through suffering and pain, and through many situations. It has also filled in the blanks, and answered questions I have been approaching the throne of grace with confidence in. If you have struggled with insecurities, anxiety, depression, years of struggling with a specific sin, feeling like you know all the Sunday school answers but you're are just on the outside of truly believing that God's answers work, this book will be a bridge for you to become free by the grace of God. It's practical for application! It's dripping with the love and grace of God! The patience, love, and mercy he has for us, is masterfully portrayed by Christine! I highly recommend it!

What I love most about this book is how captivated I was from the first page. Christine makes this book easy to understand and from a real-life, relevant, yet truly Biblical and Godly point of view. What an encouragement this book was to my heart and life. It is truly a turning point for me after growing up in church my whole life and still in church struggling to grasp the truth of the Gospel and that it is not based on what we can do for the Lord, but what He has done and can do for us.

So well written and an easy read. The author does an excellent job at applying scripture to the points she is making. The goodness gospel was something I didn't actually believe that I was often living by but many times I am. This book has opened my eyes and caused me to be on my knees before our amazing God asking him to change me and cause me to live and walk in the beauty and freedom of the true gospel of Jesus Christ

I truely believe that God placed this book in my life to teach and heal me. It is an amazing and relatable read that walks you through what it means to live in grace and not by your works. Hoover breaks the mold, not afraid to speak the truth of issues hidden in plain sight in churches today.This book helps you understand what God wants for you and the simple but profound truth of living a christian life.

I was thirsty and you gave me living water! In fact after reading the sample on Amazon, I ordered two, and couldn't wait so I downloaded it on my Kindle! This book was an answer my daily PRAYER for more of Jesus and less of me. Too many years I have been a slave to good works and people pleasing; feeling like a failure much of the time. Christine, thank for your beautifully written book and the reminder of the freedom that it by HIS grace we were, we are, and will be saved from our goodness. PS I plan to gift the extra book to a friend.

This is my favorite book for the last 10 years. Every Christian woman needs to read it because Christine puts her finger on the heart of the problem in the way most of us are living our Christian lives. It's Satan's age old lie to us--"you can please God if you just live the right way." The book has profoundly changed my outlook and heart. I'm giving it to all my daughters and friends to read.

My first read from Christine Hoover. Blessed be the person who recommended this wonderful book! And I even forget now how I stumbled upon it. But I am sure glad I did. A passage that brought me to tears: "autism days," where the author speaks of her autistic son being shunned at a summer camp. I fight back tears even as I write this review. More reading C. H. in the near future, for sure.

This book... I can't even explain to say how much it is helping me (alongside with the Word of God) in my walk. I have a Type A personality and have such a perfectionist mindset - at least when it comes to being a "perfect christian". This chick is REAL. So thankful for her honesty and bravery!

I cannot recommend this book enough! This book challenged me, convicted me and comforted me. Read it and be blessed! I went through as I read it and underlined meaningful passages...well, most of the book is underlined. Wow.God is good to bless writers like Christine with the ability to convey powerful and life-changing truths, opening up Scripture and showing us what that looks like when the rubber meets the road in daily life!

gospel centred, grace drenched and an honest book from the author which has provided rest for my soul and great encouragement. Buy at least 2 copies and read it with friends 😉

This book is full of incredible life changing truth. It's what my soul so desperately needs to hear. Can't recommend it enough!
