Poor quality product
I have to say I really only have myself to blame for this. I read the reviews and there are plenty of warnings from others stating that this is not a high quality pedometer and they were right. I will say that they at the very least ship quickly but the bottom line is that this is simply not a good pedometer. It never was able to accurately count steps (and yes I am sure that I put the pedometer on correctly) and after two days the display (which didn't really work right to begin with) decided to crap out. Don't make the same mistake I did! Do not buy this! It may be annoying to pay a little more for a pedometer but after this experience, it will be worth it.

Terrific. Simple. Reliable. Inexepensive
This is the 3rd or 4th one of these pedometers I've owned. I used to buy them at Target. The latest one is to replace a $100 FitBitUltra. These are easy to set, easy to use and easy to read. I wear it on my belt, I can look down and read the data with ease (I couldn't do this with the FitBit)What happened to the other 3? Over about ten years...... ($7 x 4 is less than $3 per year. The Fit Bit lasted about 8 months). The last Strider pedometer got banged around and the Reset button fell out. I was able to reset it with a pencil point for a while. The first 1 or 2 were lost knocked off my belt. One on a hike, the other I don't remember. To avoid this I tie a piece of strong string to a $1 carabiner (key ring) which I clip to a belt loop.I'll do that with this one.I doubt these are very accurate for distance, but nothing except a GPS is good for that. I use it to try to get 10,000 steps every day.It is important to position it correctly. Clipping to a belt is good, clipping it to running shorts that get folded over makes it not work. (If you roll over your shorts, do it before clipping and you won't have a problem).

Warning - pedometer you receive won't be black!!!
This model used to be sold everywhere - Walmart, target , etc. Lately though, they've stopped carrying it and now have bigger, bulkier and more expensive models. I'm always losing my pedometers, so I was excited to able to buy some more cheap ones that I can afford to lose.I was even more excited that it would be black! I wear a pedometer every day. I need one that will blend in at work. I work in an office and need to dress professionally. Even when this style was sold everywhere, I would have to go through 15-20 pedometers to find a black or grey one.So, I ordered five from Amazon - knowing my history of losing them. NOT ONE I RECEIVED WAS BLACK. So damned annoying. It will cost me more in time to return them - but TOTALLY DECEPTIVE to show a black one and then send out extremely bright green and red ones to customers. Sorry, but bright green - practically glowing - green does NOT with any of my work outfits. The pedometer itself is fine. I like the clip; you can stick it on your waistband one-handed. Sometimes if I'm hiking in very humid conditions it will freeze up. I don't know how accurate it is - but they are consistent. I've worn two - juts to make sure one doesn't measure more than another - it doesn't. Great way to see how much I'm moving around each day.

Great Price - Great Pedometer
I was looking in the stores and pricing different pedometers for our WALK ACROSS TEXAS competition. I really wanted one but did not want to spend a lot of money as I have purchased ones in the past and either lose or wash and dry on my clothes! So far this has done everything I need and way easier than many i have tried. you can have it on the miles (which I prefer) not just the steps and its easy to change your step distance and reset each day. The clip is strong and does not fall off like others. I recommend completely. You cannot beat the price for the quality.

Small, functional pedometer, but beware of the occasional dud.
I've used many, many pedometers over the years. I've tried pedometers whose prices have ranged from $2.50 to $50. Of all of these, the Sportline 340 Strider pedometer is the one I've liked the best. I like this particular pedometer because it's cheap and small doesn't make (too much of) a bulge under my shirt. Over the last five years I've probably purchased about five of these pedometers. It's not the fanciest pedometer, and there are some quality control issues, but generally it has worked well for me. Given the price, I think it's a good product. Just make sure to test your pedometer when you get it to make sure that it's not a dud.Pros:1) Small and discrete.2) Very cheap.3) Generally accurate if worn level on hip.Cons (Major):1) Sometimes the pedometer falls off when you pull your pants down or knock against it. After enough falls on a hard floor eventually the clip breaks off or the display stops working.2) Occasionally a pedometer simply doesn't function properly. I've gotten probably five of these pedometers over the years, and one was clearly not counting steps accurately. The rest all worked fine when I got them, and continued to count steps accurately until I dropped them too many times and broke them, or lost them. I've never managed to keep one long enough for the battery to die.Cons (Minor):1) If you have a very thick belt, the clip may be too small.2) The pedometer must be worn level, so it can't be placed in a pocket or purse, for example.3) The pedometer doesn't reset to zero each day. Sometimes I forget to reset the step count and then I don't know how many steps I got the previous day.4) No choice of color. You get whatever the manufacturer sends you. It may be black or bright red or blue.5) It's not easy to see your step count without taking off the pedometer.6) It doesn't have any sophisticated methods to discount false steps from hip movements due to standing up, jiggling, etc.
