beautiful
Beautiful and easy to use! The grater stays sharp after many uses and guests always ask about it. I wish it came with a dish to put the salts in. It would make a great gift if it came with a decorative dish.

hard to use
I found this very hard to use. The grater is sharp and therefore grates your knuckles when it slips from your grip because you have to push the salt so hard into the grater. You also have to grate A LOT of salt to get enough to taste.

Salt, it cracks me up - grater is junk
I recently purchased "fossilized crystals of sea salt, formed more than 26 million years ago and unpolluted," of the Terre Exotique Diamand Salt Stones with Grater (Pakistan/Kashmir), 9.5 oz from a b&m store at about half today's cost for this product, but mine contains over 14 ounces. The grater is very much like one I purchased over twenty years ago for nutmeg and it also contains a little section at the top underneath the hinged lid for storing the item you're grating if it fits. These salt stones will not fit now, but when they are smaller, they could. I'll likely put them in my salt mill instead and will grind them until they are gone. It's amazing that despite the need for reduced sodium content in our foods, salts are fashionable and some are exorbitantly priced. I do like the delicate flavor of the pink Himalayan salts and appreciate them on popcorn with smoked paprika. I do think we consumers have gone crazy and this, too, shall pass. The grater is lightweight and the surface is sharp, so watch your knuckles. I'm thinking of using mine for nutmeg instead and using my Microplane grater instead. Since it's easier to grab the pink salt mill from TJ's, these salt stones are going to last for some time in this household which does not overindulge in our sodium intake. As a conversation piece, this works, but on the practical front, it's simply below average. The grater is a piece of junk, had little dents in the lightweight metal out of the package. The hinged lid won't last. The salt is good and my over 14 ounces are in 5 large stones, the same as in the image posted on this site. It looks exactly like this one, with the stones fitting in the plastic package just like they do beside the upright grater.

use the shaker instead
a cool idea for someone who likes to try new things in the kitchen. Bought this item for a gift. The grater came with rust on it, and the packaging was all scratched up so you couldn't even read the description of the salt. Amazon sent me another one and the 2nd package was just as bad as the first. Needless to say, I repackage the salt and had to buy a new grater.
