The Complete Book of Western Hatches: An Angler's Entomology and Fly Pattern Field Guide Paperback – January 1, 1981

I have been hesitant on buying a used book online for along time. Book is in awesome shape, only bit of minor cosmetic damage I would have done to it myself on the drive home from the bookstore in 1981 when it was printed. Beyond satisfied. A++++

If they'd published the book using colour photography, it would have been a world beater. As it stands, one can greatly admire the work that's underlying the book's production - but I'd probably be raving about it and happily paying twice as much for it if it was in colour

Of the books we were handed to perused at a fly fishing class I liked this one the best. It compared the different flies to the different stages of what the Trout thrive on.I needed to learn this if I continue to dabble in fly fishing.

I bought this as a reference book to help determine what hatches I will see when I travel and what flies will imitate them. It does that job extremely well. If you are looking for something just to sit down and read, Dave Hughes' Handbook of Hatches is a much better choice.

Older book with very detailed information in it on many of the aquatic insects found in Western Waters. Excellent choice for anyone interested in reading the scientific data on insects as well as patterns, habitat, and imitations. It is an older book and the patterns are outdated but still effective.

Great book. Needed something for my fly fishing trip, this will do it. Matching the hatch is key and this book is showing me how to do it.

Got this for my husband, he loves it. He scoures through the pages, learning and creating, eager to get out and fish with his newest fly.
