It's a big light bulb thats for sure. I found out the hard way that these light waves emmited from this bulb are too intense for a baby plant so I just had to go LED on that one until it gets old enough to use this larger more intense light on. But I have installed this in my shop and it puts out more light than 2 of those floursent bar bulbs do and it is pure white, perfect for taking pictures or just finding stuff in general. The heat displacement of this bulb isnt enough to worry about because i can pull it out of a socket with my bare hand while its on and its only warm so id say its good around pets and kids cause if you knock it over no fire hazard. The only downfall is its huge size but light compared to the price just buy the thing. Im about to install one in my kitchen because i like well lit up areas.

I've bought 4 of these bulbs and the plants really love them. The down side is that I can't seem to get one to last much longer than a month at 18 hours on per day. Its a nice product that is not horrifically expensive, but I can't afford to replace them every 4 weeks. I'll be looking for another bulb that lasts much longer.This is an update on my last review.I love the daylight bulb and the light it puts out, and the plants love it also but....This is the 4th one I put into the greenhouse and it only lasted 4 days before it stopped working. I will need to find a different type of bulb that has the same light quality but actually lasts longer than a few days.

This bulb is Large (think of a a cardboard tube holding a football), but it is quite bright. I have only used it for a short period of time so I cannot comment on the life of this bulb. The base gets pretty warm, but you can still grab it with your bare hands if they are not overly sensitive. The glass portion as well as the reflector I am using are cool to the touch. I have noticed that the voltage has a large impact on the amount of heat the base gives off, and also how much energy the bulb uses (2-3 watts with lower voltages, but all CFL bulbs do this). I will probably buy another one when I need more light, but I might go for a different target wavelength. Either way, I recommend this brand of bulb.

I bought two of these in May it is now mid September and one bulb has burned out. It was only on for 12 hours a day for 2 months the second one is still working have my fingers crossed it will last longer. I dont think i would buy any more of these.

Great bulb for maximum growth without any noticeable increase to your utilities. Works great, but the life span is not as long as advertised.
