Days of Wonder Memoir '44 Pacific Theater Expansion Board Game

Memoir44 has created recreations of WWII battles. These are short requiring 1-1,5 hours. Because dice and cards are involved they are a combination of skill and luck. Games are won based on points achieved and that means that they do not take too much time. Great fun. Challenging. A look at important history.

The Pacific Theater expansion pack (need Memoir 44 base game to play) adds a few additional key rules and 'twists' to the Memoir 44 game. This expansion really adds additional flavor and flair to the already interesting base game. I've played 3 scenarios already with my brother (playing each scenario at least twice as we 'switch' sides Japan/U.S.). Interestingly, this expansion pack only has 12 Japanese tanks (whereas the original base game and Eastern Front have 24 tanks per 'army' type. Not a big deal as non of the scenarios need more than 12 Japanese tanks - part of the realism I suppose that tanks weren't heavily deployed in the Pacific Theater...Once we master this I'll look into playing one of the other expansion packs next. If you have a group of 'trusted' people who you play Memoir 44 with you could swap expansion packs occasionally to make your $ go extra far.

Excellent addition to a Memoir 44 collection. This expansion opens up the Pacific theater for your gaming enjoyment. The inclusion of several new terrain tiles including beaches, caves, mountains and rice paddies provide some excellent options for setting up a field of play. Add to this the Japanese and Marine rules and the new units including warships, flame thrower tanks and mobile artillery and you have the ability to create hundreds of scenarios. If you have any interest in the Pacific theater or just want to give your Memoir 44 games a different look and feel then I highly recommend this expansion.

Great expansion, like the updated rules, love the pieces, just seems overpriced for what it is.My son and I have only played a few of the scenarios but it's been cool so far. I like how they figure out the nuances of each theatre and represent those simply in their expansions. Like with Eastern Front Expansion they give you the Commisar and with the Pacific Theatre Expansion there are tweaks to accomodate for the Japanese soldiers training and influences. They also give you history around it, so for me.. .this becomes great learning opportunities for my kids (and myself) especially when you see it affect a battle.My only wish is that the expansion price reflected what you get... but hey, I still pay it :-) and it's getting good raiting, so I guess you could argue it's worth it.

I like a lot, I'm fan of this game and the diversity of scenarios you can build with all expansions

This is a great purchase to expand your Memoir '44 gaming experience. The special rules for Marines and Japanese are awesome.
