Very fun movie that I remember from years ago.

THIS IS A GEM OF A COMEDY THAT I'VE ALWAYS BEEN SURPRISED SO FEW PEOPLE HAVE EVER HEARD OF.RELEASED IN 1980, THE MOVIE WAS ON CABLE PAY TV ALL THROUGH THE DECADE, ITS AWESOME TO BE ABLE TO GO BACK AND GET IT ON DVD NOW."HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS" IS AN X RATED VERSION OF "AMERICAN GRAFFITI" PRETTY MUCH IN SHORT, BUT PLEASE GET THIS DVD BECAUSE ITS HILARIOUS.I CALL IT X RATED BECAUSE THERES NO WAY THIS MOVIE WOULD GET INTO THEATERS THESE DAYS WITHOUT AN NC-17 RATING OR NOT GO DIRECTLY TO DVD, EVEN THOUGH I'M VERY MUCH INTO ADULT ENTERTAINMENT.ITS HALLOWEEN NIGHT 1965, AND A GROUP OF HIGH SCHOOL KIDS CALLED THE HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS HAVE A CAR CLUB AND HANG OUT AT "TUBBY'S" DRIVE IN, A LEGENDARY BURGER JOINT THAT IS ENJOYING ITS LAST NIGHT BEFORE BEING TORN DOWN BY THE CITY OF BEVERLY HILLS MUCH TO THE PLEASURE OF THE 40 AND 50 SOMETHING RESIDENTS IN THE CITY.AS REVENGE THE KNIGHTS PLAN A NIGHT OF RAISING HAVOC AT THE RESTAURANT AND AROUND BEVERLY HILLS, AND VERY MUCH SUCCEED ALONG THE WAY AS THE NIGHT GOES ON.TWO BUMBLING COPS "CLARK" AND "BIMBEAU" ARE ASSIGNED TO KEEP THE KNIGHTS IN CHECK, BUT FALL VICTIM TO THE GANG'S NIGHT OF SIDE SPLITTING TERROR THEMSELVES.THE NIGHT GOES ON AND CHECKS IN ON EACH CAST OF CHARACTER'S SITUATION AS THE FILM GOES ON, THE LAMPOONED ANTICS OF "TUBBY'S" DRIVE IN'S LAST NIGHT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:A URINE SPIKED BUCKET OF FRUIT PUNCH COURTESY OF THE KNIGHTS:PREMATURE EJACULATION:MALE TO FEMALE ORAL SEX WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL CHEATING ON HER HUSBAND THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT:A KNIGHT THAT GETS A GIRL TO WHACK HIM OFF AND HAS HIS "JOHNSON" CAUGHT IN HIS PANTS ZIPPER:MOONINGS BY THE KNIGHTS, AND DRAG RACES.ALTHOUGH THE DVD COVER FEATURES TONY DANZA AND MICHELLE PHEIFFER BEFORE THEY WERE WELL KNOWN, THE STAR OF THE MOVIE IS ROBERT WUHL, YOU MAY REMEMBER HIM FROM THE HBO SERIES "ARLISS".MICHELLE PHEIFFER ONLY HAS SMALL CAMEO TYPE SCENES IN THE MOVIE.GRAB THIS ONE WHILE YOU CAN STILL GET IT FOR AROUND $10.OO BUCKS.ITS HILARIOUS!!!!!!

I saw THE HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS when it first came out about twenty plus years ago and I remember the audience in stitches througout the movie. There is an undermining sense of comraderie behind all the sophomoric hijinks and pranks when the 'Knights'( a "car club" rather than a street gang) are together. It is Halloween night and they just want to cruise the Hollywood Boulevard having one great night before their beloved hangout, "Tubbies" (a hamburger drive-in joint) is about to be shut down by the city council to make way for a new office complex, but it is also a way to get rid of the HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS. Also, the 'Knights' are hazing new recruits by stripping them naked and leaving them out in the middle of nowhere. They must make it back into town to get to a local radio station, and then make a dedication on the air. The rest of the 'Knights' spend the whole movie crashing different functions and getting into all kinds of mischief while getting two police officers in hot water (is there lyrics to the theme song of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA?). 'KNIGHTS' has been shown occasionally on cable in which some scenes were edited and on regular tv (in which it is butchered beyond recognition). In this reviewer's mind, it is consistantly funnier than PORKEY'S. The film is basically a cross between AMERICAN GRAFFITI and ANIMAL HOUSE but it stands on its own as a comedy cult classic. Now it is released on DVD uncut, uncensored, and in widescreen. Robert Whul, as the hilarious Newbaume, is the stand out talent in this movie. His so-called 'performance' of "Volare" in front of a high school pep ralley alone is hilarious and worth the price of the DVD. The other characters, gags and the soundtrack are excellent. The only time the film slows is during the scenes with Tony Danza and Michelle Pfieffer, but it is a minor complaint. Overall, an overlooked comedy gem worth a second look. Note: Look for Fran Drescher and TK Carter in supporting roles.

Good old funny movie.

A Very Fun Movie ! Hijinks, a little vulgarity, and honest(?) fun make for a good time !

OK, this is by no means a work of art or worthy of being considered in the same league as American Graffiti or Two-Lane Blacktop. The humour is very low brow, the plot and premis are weak, and the acting really not very good. If, however, you are a classic car fan and like the nostalgic feel of "beach movies," you will probably enjoy this movie; I did.

This movie was not for me. Hardly shows Tony Danza. Just a bunch of high school kids acting dumb. I thought this movie was on Tony Danza. Nope it's on a bunch other people. So I don't know why his picture is on the front.

Such a great movie. Funny sad. Great story. Young actors. I’ve seen long time ago & never had uncut version on TV.
