Process Not Perfection: Expressive Arts Solutions for Trauma Recovery

Dr. Jamie Does it Again
Jamie Marich once again flexes her creative, intuitive healing muscles in this, her latest work. This book is the bedtime story that all creative, somatic, curious, out of the box healers, and those looking for healing, need. Dr. Marich is a multidimensional soul barely contained in a power house persona that radiates her warrior thespian spirit, and it spills across the pages of "Process Not Perfection". Page after page breathes life back into stagnated spaces that used to hold humanity's glittering creativity, with chapters ranging on how to's for grounding and breathing, to distress tolerance and and self-compassion. This guidebook for the perfectly imperfect gives permission to the wounded, weary, battle scarred, and disillusioned to rediscover their breath, write a letter, create a song or a poem, and come back into their own space and reclaim with power and poise the spaces they were shamed into abandoning. As a trauma therapist, I delight in creating adventure with my clients with my soon to be dog eared copy as our guide. I encourage all therapists to stock their library with a copy of each book that Jamie pens and publishes, which read like a love letter to the universe, and my wish for the therapy community and the trauma community as a whole, is that one day we will reach for "Process not Perfection" more than we will reach for the DSM-5.

Surprise
I just got this in the mail today. I was surprised that it is a workbook and a personal journal for self-healing, and a training manual for therapists to work with their clients. What a wonderful tool to use in a group healing environment. For someone like me who is really into the expressive arts, this is a jewel.
