Great Drone for a beginner
This drone was available for a great price but the feature richness was well above and beyond my expected value of the purchase. The drone was easy to assemble and it took about 8 hours to charge the battery, so keep that in mind when you open the box and don't think you will be flying ASAP. I ordered an extra battery so I get about 30-40 minutes of flight time. You should read the manual and make sure you understand the operation of the drone. After flying it a few times you will be able to remember all of the startup and activation procedures to initiate flight. This step and then learning the orientation of the drone for controls are the two areas to really focus on. I finally setup the drone to fly left and right based on my view through the camera, which is easiest for me.This is my first drone and my first flight had me nervous, but take off was simple and flight was easy once you understand your orientation and it was fun to fly. The drone can fly pretty fast for its price range and the camera is a solid camera and takes great pictures and video.During my first month of use, I did have one pilot error and drove the drone into a tree at a height of about 50 feet. The drone fell through the tree branches and hit the ground, as if the motor decided to shutoff and the props stopped spinning. I expected to have some damage and broken props, but I found the drone, picked it up and tested it immediately and it flew just fine. I have had no problems with it after the pilot error crash. The 2K camera does take good video and stills, but when displayed on an 80" 4K screen it was still quite pixelated. On a smaller screen it looks great. So I have bought a 4K camera now and it looks so much better on my 80" 4K TV.I would highly recommend this drone to anyone wanting to start using a drone for the first time and I suspect that even intermediate and advanced users would be able to enjoy the use of this drone. There are still many features that I have not used yet like the Orbit and mapping a flight plan, etc. that I will be using as I find more flight time with my wonderful new drone!

Perfect Next Step Drone
I purchased this drone after a drone I purchased for about $75 gave up the ghost. My first drone was an Eachine E58 folding quad copter. It was fun, but eventually performed sporadically. I think it had an intermittently bad motor on one of the arms. Long story short, I knew I wanted something nicer and bigger, but was not yet ready to drop $1k+ on a pro level rig. This drone was the perfect purchase. This drone is easy to fly, and has features that bat well above its price point. The size, power, and GPS function give it some reassuring stability that my cheaper drone lacked. With the GPS function, gusts of wind ect, have little effect on the drone. If it encounters a gust, it quickly acts to correct itself. Without this on my other drone, I was always having to react to conditions. My first drone would react to the tiniest gusts. The camera was pretty good as well. At this price point, I wasn't expecting a GoPro level camera. You can either record directly to your phone, or to an on board micro sd card if you provide it. While recording directly to your phone made utilizing photos and videos quicker, I did find a little better video performance saving directly to the Micro SD Card. Note though, you have to provide the card. I usually have plenty floating around so it wasn't an issue. The follow me feature is pretty neat, but the drone movement is a little jerky which shows in the footage. The battery life was pretty good. Depending on conditions and types of flights you take, the fly time can fluctuate. Once the battery reaches critical, the remote will beep at you. The only downside to the battery is the charging time. Charging time is said to be about 7 hours which, depending how depleted the battery was, held true. This said, spare batteries are probably a good recommendation. I honestly do not have much of a say on range. I do not like letting the drone get too far from me, so I have never had any problems. The remote is decent. The phone holder worked with my iPhone X. The lock button made me a little nervous. Before you can fly the drone, you have to unlock it. This is a good safety feature on the front end. You can unlock it by a combination of stick movements, or by depressing a button on the remote. If you push the lock button in flight, according to the instructions, it will lock the drone, you will lose control, and the drone will fall from the sky. From a user interface standpoint, this probably needs to be changed. Even though the button is not in close proximity to take off and function buttons, knowing you have a self-destruct button is a little unnerving. All in all, I think this drone is a great value and has some great features.

Great Drone. Great Value.
My first drone was super cheap, so this is my first "adult" drone. Instructions for putting it together were clear and it went together very easily. For a cheaper (not a DJI) drone, it's well constructed and feels solid. The instruction manual is well written and covered all the questions I had. The battery charged right up and I took it out for the first flight. Calibration was smooth and easy and the quick start guide was helpful.. After connecting via wifi, the app (downloaded previously) instantly displayed what the camera was pointing at and kept a great signal (no delay or buffering) through out the flight (note that it was my first flight so i kept it within 300 feet). Picture from the camera was not a 4k GoPro but was perfectly fine for me! Controls and stability are super smooth when flying. It held altitude perfectly and headless mode worked great - way easier than trying to keep orientation for beginners like me. If I had to make one negative comment, it would be that that drone doesn't turn as sharp and hard as I would like. My first (toy) drone had a "smooth" mode and "sport" mode where sport mode flew super aggressively (30-40* of tilt when you jam the stick over). That said, that's the only reason i gave it 4/5 stars but I'm still very satisfied with this Potenza D85. Great product. I would definitely recommend it for the price. Great value!
