Exceeded expectations
Both hardware and software are better than I expected. The camera has a very wide angle of view and produces good images in daylight, switching to infra-red in total darkness which also produces good images. Very easy to set up, it requires no separate hub, powered by a very long USB cable which gives you a good chance of reaching a mains socket (it requires permanent mains supply). The software is also slick and works well on my Android phone. One minor gripe: the microphone is extremely sensitive and will start recording at the slightest sound (assuming you have sound triggering switched on). There are three levels of sensitivity in software, but even the lowest sensitivity triggers recordings for minor sounds such as creaking floorboards. However, overall this is excellent value.

Quality Spot Camera for Many Needs
The media could not be loaded. Honestly, this kit is class. I use mine in my tortoise table to check in on my tortoise and see what he’s eaten and where he’s been etc.The first misconception is that people say the live view is slow to connect. This is untrue, and is solely based on the many other complexities within a home network - speed, router, distance to junction box. Remember this is upload speeds, not download speed. The video is being uploaded through your router, not downloaded. Hopefully my video makes that clear for other people who are interested. The second is the weight for mounting. I’ve mounted mine using a paperclip and wire, with the camera facing down. This has been solid and the weight hasn’t made a difference. In fact it feels quite considering it’s a rotating camera! The camera takes very little time to install and setup, it works great with the app and with other Kasa products. Mine is hanging upside down and the image in the app was flipped in the settings menu. The zone feature is fantastic to snap the camera in its different angles of view. I try to cover the important places or as many angles to make navigation quick and easy. However, the joystick is also very usable and makes navigation slower but still smooth and easy.I can’t fault this product, but I haven’t tried the night vision at this time as it isn’t a feature that I use, so bear this in mind. This is great for so many use cases, I can’t recommend it enough :)

Average Security Camera For The Price.
This is my 2nd Kasa Camera I bought as the first one I bought on EBay. First of all my advice and if your a prime member buy this device from here.. as the set up was much simpler then the first time I when I bought my 1st one of eBay.. As the set up the first camera was a nightmare and so frustrating. The set up on this 2nd one from Amazon was simple this time round I was all set up and working within 3mins or so... the day time picture quality is very good but the night vision is not as good as the site say.. but it may be how iv got it placed as I’m using it to watch my drive way and back entrance... and motion tracking is very good in the day yet to try this at night.. live stream is good.. the only thing I will say is the app can be a bit slow... movement and adjusting the camera is very good and the remote adjustment via the app is very good, other wise good for the price for a basic cam..ok it’s not a ring or a more expensive set but if you just want a security camera for deterrent then this is worth a look. And if you subscribe to the Kasa care plan for £2.99 per camera you can get the extra features cheaper then rings price plan. And plus Kasa gives 30 day free trail . And if u don’t want the extra features you can cancel before you are charged.Overall it’s worth a look..since iv bought the 2 cameras I’m thinking of getting the out door version next may be in the new yearOf the same product.

Excellent camera for the price
I also own a Netatmo Welcome camera which cost 3x more, but for under £40 the Smart Spot camera is excellent and a leader in its class, with a surprising number of higher-end features like activity zones and full HD 1080P. You won't find an SD card slot (no real loss there, just extra cost), but you will get 24 hours of secure cloud storage. You can pay and upgrade to a subscription to store a month's data if you really need it (one month subscription is included with this cam as a trial, and will revert at end), but this is enough storage for where I'm using this cam. If you set up the motion sensitivity, video quality and activity zones, it can store quite a lot of video over this period with those settings adjusted conservatively (e.g. 720 quality, lower sensitivity). The app and guide take you through these settings and they were a breeze to change. Notifications are well thought through too, and easily configurable, so you don't get blasted by constant pinging on your phone or device which can get very annoying, very fast.Of course, the camera must have a good quality/strong signal, active wifi internet connection for it to work, and power, so no need to go into how these devices can be bypassed by intruders, even ones with an SD card. (Do you really think that your camera would be left untouched?!) I would suggest that for those seriously looking at home security you consider just paying the bigger bucks for a proper burglar alarm, or adjust expectations.Overall, for the cost I'm very impressed with the camera build quality, and the app, plus you have dedicated support if things don't go as expected. I'd highly recommend it. (It also comes with a 3 year warranty out of the box, no registration required, just proof of purchase if needed.)This review is for the version 2 (see serial number label on underside of box), the latest version at time of writing.
