Fake; coating peeled off
I bought this watch for my boyfriend because he had the same watch and LOVED it and the band broke a while back. It was $15 cheaper than the Nixon website and seemed credible, so I thought why not. When I first ordered it, I received an empty box. Someone at the Amazon warehouse must've stolen it, so I returned it for a new one. The new one came and within hours of my boyfriend wearing it, the coating started to peel off. He did not get it wet and was not doing anything more than hanging around the house. He didn't need to scratch it, it simply started rubbing off any time he touched it. Not sure if it's a dupe or simply poor quality, but I returned it. I just ordered a real one from the Nixon website. The $15 discount on Amazon is not worth the low quality.

Watch collector's point of view - Well done Nixon.
I'm a watch collector of inexpensive through multi-thousand dollar watches -- mainly in the higher end. This is my first quartz watch in a long time, but I needed a cheap watch I wouldn't worry about destroying but still had a great style and fit my wrist, so I ended up with this Nixon Time Teller in all black. To summarize my review - this watch is well worth the price because of its design, comfort, and thoughtfulness. It may seem simple, but a design like this is hard to make look effortless. Clean lines and great design on all dial, hands, case, and strap. The single strap keeper grabbing the tip is a nice design element, keeping the keeper where it should be, the tip where it should be, and is the ultimate in simple innovation. The overall weight of the watch is next to nothing - making it comfortable for long term and/or strenuous activity wearing. The water resist appears to be enough to resist hand-washing, but I wouldn't take it much further than that. Even though the case is plastic it doesn't feel "cheap" just lightweight. The lines are sculpted in all the right ways on the case - rounded where it should be and sharp where it should be. If you're looking for an affordable minimalist watch, this is the choice for you.For those of my fellow automatic wearers who worry about the loud tick of a quartz second hand -- THIS SECOND HAND MAKES ALMOST NO NOISE -- can be worn easily wihtout hearing the tick in a quiet room. I am always annoyed by quartz watches that I can hear ticking away while they sit peacefully on my wrist. This one is near-silent (can hear if right up to your ear), but totally silent at arms-length, which is surprisingly quite frankly because of the lightweight and plastic construction, but it is near-silent. Everyone's ears are a bit different of course - but mine are sensitive to this noise normally and I cannot hear these watches.I liked the all black version so much I now have this in a few other colors and have given them as gifts.Cheers,Ross

Beautiful but disappointing watch.... ..
Love the look and feel of this watch. Gotten several complement. Love how the tail end of the strap locks in place. Only one problem - It does reliably keep track of the time! Problem is worst when I sleep with it. Often lose 10-20 min per day. Replaced battery and even bought a 2nd to jo avail. Finally figured out that if your bent wrist puts side pressure on the winding wheel , it will pause the second hand until the pressure is released never had this problem with other watch. Disappointing because I lover everything else.

Although the watch is aesthetically very nice and fits my lanky but small wrist well
I've had this watch for 9 months. In the first month, yes it absolutely does peel as other reviewers have said. For me, it peeled around the bezel first and then the casing, leaving shiny black plastic below the matte coating. Now, 9 months later, the bezel has cracked. Although the watch is aesthetically very nice and fits my lanky but small wrist well, the quality of the materials just isn't there. I've had Timex watches that lasted longer. I'm pretty sure that Nixon would just call this wear and tear, meaning it would not be covered under warranty. I'll go back to Timex or MVMT.

Coating chipped within 24 hours
I love this watch, had it for over 3+ years. After some normal wear and tear the band cracked and so I was ready to buy another. I purchased the same exact watch this month. Within days the coating on the face of the watch was peeling. I then ordered a replacement and the same thing happened, less then 24 hours of wearing the watch. Nixon is a great brand, surprised this is happening.

Band and watch setting get dirty instantly!
I'm giving this watch one star because it was super cute fresh out of the package. The other Nixon watch I bought several years ago has been amazing and has held up well and still looks great. This one looks terrible after literally owning it for one month. The white setting and band are like sponges and just soak up the color of anything they touch. After one month this watch is a nasty, grimy, beige-ish mishmash color. I've tried washing, cleaning, scrubbing, etc, but to no avail! Besides the stain factor, the setting near the watch face has also cracked in two places. Don't buy this watch. The other bummer about the whole thing is that I went on Amazon to return it today and my "return window" closed two days ago......literally only one month after it arrived.

You get what you pay for.
This is the my third Nixon Timeteller watch. For $45 don't expect the world. Most recently I ordered the matte grey/yellow version and it is actually matte grey/orange (not a deal breaker but just so know what you're getting). These tend to last about 3 to 4 years. The finish will peel over time, the battery will die and after you replace it the seal won't be as strong and water will damage will eventually result in watch failure, or the band will dry out and break. But for the cost, this is a nice casual watch that is easy to read, waterproof, and looks decent. Just don't expect it to last forever.

Buy It
This watch looks expensive and many people have told me so. Plus it's waterproof, economical and comfortable. I work where it's really hot and I get gross sweaty and my sunscreen builds up around it, but it's super easy to clean!Follow up:Watch died. Haven’t tried replacing the battery but seems a little soon. It’s only been a year. :(

Very Contemporary (and Cheap)
It’s a simple watch but that’s the appeal. It looks very modern and can be worn as casual and even smart as you just look on trend. It is cheap and the plastic isn’t great but for the money it is WELL worth it.

What do they use to paint this watch?
Looked great at first, but after less than 10 hours of wear the matt black has worn off the corners of the watch. It now looks like a cheap and very old watch.

Love My Watch
Well made quality product, feels great on, easy to tell them time (pretty essential for a watch I'd say) & looks good on. Only reason it didn't get 5 out of 5 is the retainer for the buckle has yellowed over the few months I've had it. Doesn't bother me but stops it getting top marks, otherwise I do love this watch.
