Paul Hegstrom does an excellent job addressing the overwhelming problem of abusive relationships, their core cause, and what can be done about it. Written from first-hand experience, he calls for the church to become more educated in this on-going problem and take a more active role in providing help and healing for its victims.

I READ THIS BOOK AND FOUND IT HELPFUL AND DO RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS TO READ WHEN THEY HAVE A CRISIS OR NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHY MEN ABUSE THEIR WIVES. COMING FROM A HOME WHERE THIS DID OCCUR, I APPRECIATED HIS HONESTY AND WOULD BUY MORE IF NEEDED. SOME PARTS OF THIS IS HARD TO READ BECAUSE OF THE TRUTH HE SAYS, SO YOU MAY READ IT IN SHORT INTERVALS UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU NEED.

I encourage all who feel the need to order this book. It will be very helpful to you when you read it. This is an oft unspoken problem, but it is real, nonetheless. If you receive it and let it into your heart, your life will be much better. I do recommend buying this book.

Seeing abuse illuminating through the authors descriptions really opened my eyes to a new level of how much of it is out there - often right in our own relationships without us often realizing it. Read through the first chapter and your jaw drops with what happened in Paul's life and what he changed from. Absolutely amazing. Very courageous writer and very helpful for people who want to be free.

This book shines the light on so many different aspects of an abusive relationship. Many people are broken but this book reveals allows you to see from a male & female perspective of what can be overcome with prayer and most importantly it's not your fault, but it's his issue.

What I dislike is that this book has a distinct tobacco smell. It had been in the presence of tobacco smoke long enough for the pages to absorb the aroma. Ugh! I cannot guess where that happened in the process of the book getting from original order to dellivery here.

The church blames the wives for failing marriages, when instead there needs to be a focus on the anger of the husband and how his actions/inactions HARM the wife.... Scriptures repeatedly say to have nothing to do with an angry man, and yet women are guilted into staying with an angry man and the court system further punishes her during divorce. What a shame of the "church" and society.

nice book and will last me a while during my reading of this book. would purchase again.

Now I feel vindicated. Everyone should read this before embarking on any relationship. Ask yourself any similarities to the way you grew up? If yes. Know yourself first.

Unfortunately I'm the emotionally abusive husband who hurt his wife to the point of her getting separated from myself. This book helped me to understand her perspective and how much I've hurt her and gave me direction for how to change!

This is the most awesome book ever. I followed it like a map and succeeded in completely changing myself so that I am no longer susceptible to being entangled in abusive relationships. Some points in here absolutely saved me from many instances of assault, manipulation, and abuse. I highly recommend it to every person that has ever come in contact with abusive or abused persons (which is everyone.)

I would recommend this book as it's a quick read and can be helpful for women considering leaving an abusive relation or already have left.
