Ballet Step by Step

My daughter's ballet teacher assigns homework after every class, and much of it is French terms. I wanted a book she could use as a reference, and that's exactly what this is. It's not a storybook. It lists ballet terms and their pronunciation, translation, explanation, and a how-to diagram. Also included is a list of basic ballet etiquette. This book is great for the student whose lessons are beginning to get more serious.

Very nice reference for a ballet parent who has no prior experience. Helped me help my kid practice stretches and form.

I recently saw a copy of this book at a friends house and had to have it. I bought two copies for gifts. My niece loved it. It provides great illustrations and is very informational yet easy to read and understand. Perfect to use as a teaching tool as well. I think it's the best on the market.

If you are a parent that didn't take dance (like me!) this is the book that you need! "Ballet Step by Step" provides wonderful illustrations, simple and easy to understand explanations as well as pronunciations of ballet terms. Additionally, it works great for the beginner ballet dancer - when practicing at home so that a parent can help with what their child has learned at class - but also advances in technique and is a great resource for the more advanced dancer as well. I also greatly appreciated the index in the back to be able to look up ballet terms and go right to where I needed to rather than paging through the book every time. Great resource! I highly recommend it!

Love all the resources by Janet Jerger. we have and use them all in our studio and the step by step book is a great incentive and resource for beginning ballet students!

Great ballet book with pronunciations of key ballet words. Easy on the eye, fun illustrations. If it was a hard back cover I would have given it 5 stars as I can see this wearing easily over time

As a dance teacher I highly recommend this book and will be asking my dancers to purchase it as a study guide.
