Surprise! It's a good book!
Given the author's reputation as a teacher and what I observed at conferences, my expectations were low. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It is a terrific hands-on, non-intimidating guide to dramaturgy. It is organized, full of common sense and practical savvy. A good book for students and anyone interested in the subject.

FANTASTIC!
An insightful, thoughtful, helpful, educational, practical, and interesting treatise on -- very practice-based, but also a thoughtful examination of -- dramaturgy in the US. I will be returning to this book time and again!

Dramturgy for the Non-Theater Person
I went to the UR where there is no theater program but I am very interested in dramaturgy. A friend of mine (a dramaturg) passed this book on to me. It's very informative and hands-on. It uses terms that I can easily understand as a non-theater person.
