Product description 14 TRACK CD-UNIVERSAL EAN 044001712425 .co.uk Since his career began in the late 50s with the Drifters (who then had to become the Shadows), Hank Marvin has steadily become what many guitarists call "A guitar players guitarist" thanks to his very unique sound. Fitting then that after four decades in the business he has earned the title Hank Marvin--Guitar Player. These days he's rarely in the limelight as Hank's brand of easy listening covers in a twangy guitar style don't break any boundaries but then again they don't have to. For this latest one he loses his signature sound of Fender Strat and hefty reverb for an acoustic six string but the arrangements remain much the same. However, with no echo to fill space Hank's really got into a nice rhythmic style with a few ditties like "Ticket to Ride" "American Pie" and "Eleanor Rigby" positively rocking by usual standards. Other high points are his Latin workout of the Eagles' "Hotel California" and a Dixieland blues romp called "Benny's Toon". Some of the songs may sound a bit like a holiday camp entertainer but like his previous solo material, much of it would sound better if backing a cinematic event with it being a little too subtle to grab your interest on its own but together with some on screen drama could work wonders. But anyway, as good as it is... bring back your tremolo arm and twangy electric guitar Hank.--Dave Pordigits

Hank goes gypsy jazz. Wonderful!
What a wonderful surprise, not the normal Hank sound. More gypsy jazz. Fantastic guitar playing. I can't get over how good it is. Thanks Hank for a very happy music you make. Simply brilliant.

Another Side of Hank Marvin.
Impeccable fingering skills, no squeaky sliding noises which is so irritating. This is not all "Hank" type of material but if you like good guitar playing buy John Williams. If you want GREAT guitar playing, buy this! It is a combination of different music and arrangements in the main and is fast becoming one of my favourite Hank Marvin CD's.The service was fast and the condition of CD excellent.

Well worth buying
Get yourself a comfortable chair, dim the lights a little, and listen to this 14 track cd, because it's one of Hank's 'playing for myself' delights. The cd covers might even suggest this!.Everytime I listen to any of Hank Marvin's cd's or records (yes I go back that far!) it becomes a sheer delight to listen to the different tones that this man can perform on a guitar, and the Guitar Player cd is in with the very best of them.

A different sound but still the same attention to detail ...
A different sound but still the same attention to detail and quality. After a few listens, you get into the songs.

Cool. Easy listening.
Some good standard tunes on this album. If the guitar was played solo it would be fine but combined with the orchestration it is a bit 'lift music'. This does not detract from the artistry and music played by Marvin. There are 'gypsy guitar' infusions also.

Hank Marvin- Guitar player
This record surprice me. A very good blend of aqustic giitar and electroc guitar, and to dayes popular tunes. IT reminds me of Hank Marvin first solo album back in The late 1969, just called Hank Marvin
