Happy with product just confused by photo
Simple to understand just open cap and fill with sand or water . This was the base that was recommended to go with the songmics cantilever parasol we purchased which was only £ 20 to £ 25 dearer than the 4 plastic base sections. In the photo advertising the bases there are 4 or 5 smaller photos which if you click on are enlarged the second photo is a close up of the 4 base sections and thecross they are slotted into. Noticed in this photo there appears to be 4 metal fittings that appear to join the 4 base sections together however did not receive them with the bases and cannot see evidence of holes for the fittings to be fixed to

Beware. Not as advertised.
The product photographs and description include 4 bridging clips to hold the individual weights together across the base of the parasol. The supplied weights do not have the clips or the capability to accept clips. The holes in the image would let the water out!!!!. Very disappointed since specifically purchased for the additional clips. The weights will therefore move of the wind gets hold off the canopy. Am deciding on best home-made adaptation to secure them together. Can't be bothered to return them. Also very pricey for what is effectively 4 plastic containers.

Easy peasy
I was a bit hesitant to buy this product as there are some bad reviews however, having received it, I feel the bad reviews are unfounded and probably a result of user error. The base sections are easy to fill and position and also easy to move once filled thanks to the handle in the back of the base. I have initially filled with water but will probably replace with sand in the long term. The base did come with the metal joining clips that are again easily installed. All in all, a very good product, worth the money and easy to use.

fill with sand.
Best to fill with kiln dried sand as water will freeze in winter and split these base weights but they work just fine.

Very difficult to fill up
I had high hopes for this product despite good an bad reports. All the items were intact including the little metal bars. I started to fill a segment up with water and the little indentations on the underside that is made during manufacture, popped and let water out in little fountains. the second one did the same, and I decided not to try the other two. I went to the local b&q store for some bags of sand, as I didn't want the hassle of filling the other two segments only to get water all over due to this issue. Armed with 4 bags of heavy sand that nearly killed me transporting them I set about filling the segments up. If you put a funnel in the hole of the segment to allow the sand to run through, its like an egg timer as no sand can get through. So I tried with a trowel to put sand in, and in the end I emptied the sand in a wheelbarrow and put the sand in using my hand which took approx 1 hour per segment! You may wonder why I didn't send them back? The truth is I originally ordered 4 segments from another supplier filled with concrete, which two were split and the concrete mix was more like sand, two were returned and two were sent in replacement. These were worse, so they went back, and they sent another 2 which were as bad. I was left with just 2 good segments, so I sent those back as they could not get any replacements as they were no out of stock and end of season lines - they were not getting any more. So I ordered these 4, (which incidentally sit proud of the metal crossbar on the floor to hold everything in place, which I knew but nothing else was available for me )- everything was out of stock. I have had a parasol that I have been unable to use, during this mini heatwave, so that is the reason I have kept these inferior blocks.

Stylish and solid - good looking also
I had looked for some time for a parasol base and so many descriptions, so where did I start.I wasn't looking for a curved base but so glad I did as it looks great on the parasol cross stand base.It doesn't look cheap which is good when essentially paying for this item and once in place it has held my 3m parasol in good situ with recent heavy winds and strong down poor. Early days yet but so far I am very pleased with this product

Very pleased
Good to have Option of sand or water as filling, sturdier than paving slabs and they look quite stylish. I’ve put some pot plants on mine very pleased with the result.

Good idea to use paving sand and a funnel.
Liked the ability to fill the weights with fine 'paving' sand with a funnel
