Oldy but Goody
For whatever it's worth, I bought this motherboard in 2013 and it's May 4th, 2025. Not a failure in over 12 years even though you couldn't get this motherboard nowadays. It's worked great with all the peripherals I've added; runs an Intel i5 -4430 and 8GB DDR3 memory, and it's still plenty fast, although not as fast as newer systems, but I use my desktop for all the basics. No complaints at all. Not like you will be able to get this motherboard anymore, but here's the long-term review.

My 8th build since 1997
Very happy with the board. Was surprised to discover it wouldn't accept my old Soundblaster XtremeGamer card, but that was my fault, I didn't check that part of the specs. It's got a great BIOS, way easier than the non-GUI ones from a decade+ ago :) I've got an i7 4770k and two 8gb sticks of Ripjaws inside, running great. (I returned the other two sticks when I realized 32gb of RAM would be overkill for at least a couple years, for me.)

Great Motherboard for OCing
For the last several years I have worried about motherboards. Out of the last 10, or so, systems I have put together only five of them worked flawlessly from the initial boot. This was another 4-star motherboard so, as I added components to it I thought about how frustrating this was going to be if the MB was bad. Well, the motherboard is fantastic. It booted into Windows 7-64 from the SSD that came from the system is replacing, Everything worked fine. I have an I7 3770K in it OC to 4,2 GHz. I put a Thermaltake Water 2 Pro on it with the two Thermaltake fans and it is pretty quiet, even when stressed 100% CPU. My cooling is fine, ave 23degC on idle with between 45 - 55degC for 100% CPU. If you take your time and build it carefully, this is a great motherboard.

big deal!
The board is to compressed...not enough fan ports. Decent price i guess... the also the graphics card ports are also to close together

Solid motherboard with one fatal flaw
This is a well built, reliable motherboard - except for 1 major issue (enough to take 1 or 2 stars off). The on-board sound is truly awful. I am not an audiophile, I usually just get cheap (<$50) logitech speakers and cheap headphones (<$30) and I can definitely notice the difference in quality. I've put together builds with Gigabyte and MSI motherboards in the $50-60 price range and this is truly the worst sound I have ever seen a motherboard give out. This is unacceptable from a company that makes its own line of sound cards. Yeah... you can always get a cheap $20-30 sound card, but when you have a mATX build, each PCI/PCI-E slot is precious. Even though no one mentioned it here on Amazon, there are a lot of people complaining about the sound at Newegg, so I know I'm not the only one that noticed this. If you enjoy listening to music, this may be a reason to select something else. Such a pity because I am a big fan of Asus otherwise.

Awesome boards as always from asus.
Great board. Asus uefi on this board is even nicer than my 990fx Sabertooth model and this one was cheaper. Over clocked a 4670k to 4.2ghz on air cooling very easily.

Great with 4790
Using this with the new i7-4790. Would not boot at first. But took advantage of Asus's feature to flash the BIOS with a USB drive, and everything now works great.

Solid board, but things are tight
I bought this board along with an i7-4770K and some G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 for my new desktop. It is blazing fast, stable, and overclocks nicely. It caught my eye while I was considering the Z78-PRO because I do not want to pay for the wireless. The only problem I have with the board (and the reason I will probably be returning it) is that the graphics card slot is in the 1st position and my (ginormous) Noctua NH-D14's fan clips touch the back of the graphics card. Get the non-"M" version of the board if you want a big cooler.
