an amazing read
I read this book out loud. It aged nicely. You can’t tell it was published in 1983. An excellent way to introduce hard topics like tragedy and child safety.

An Amazing Children's Book
This is nothing short of an amazing children's book. It reverberates at so many levels. I loved reading it as an adult -- first read it with my daughter when she was in third grade -- not only easy for her to read, but it covered deep concepts that were easy for her to grasp. I later read it again with the kids in middle school -- once again -- deep and simple -- reverberates with the mind and the soul of both an adult or a child -- I loved it even more the second time through. Louis Sacher is an excellent writer. I've never seen him condescend to kids and that is what makes his books work so well. He seems to enter the mind of a child, or maybe like me (and other parents, I'll bet), he just remembers...someday Angeline....someday...

Nostalgic read
I read this book as a kid and I'm so glad I was able to access it now to read to my little one.

An octopus of a book
This is absolutely the best novel ever written, nosing out other worthy contenders like The Brothers Karamazov or To Kill a Mockingbird. If you like those, you'll love this less heralded classic. The only problem is that it's virtually impossible to read it to your kids without repeatedly choking up and occasionally even breaking down into all-out sobs. Poignant, cathartic, uplifting, and ultimately exultant. Sachar was definitely channeling something deep in the soul of the universe when he penned this little gem.

4.2 from 10 year old boy
And 4.9 from 8 year old brother. Mom gives is at 5. Someday, Angeline was a sweet story and the three of us enjoyed reading it aloud. Once again Louis Sachar gave my sons and I an opportunity to discuss how to deal with difficult situations and difficult peers and teachers. We will definitely be looking for our next Louis Sachar book!

Louis Sachar Gives Teachers Some Things to Chew On
I'm a huge fan of Loius Sachar, but wasn't enormously wowed by this work of his. I appreciated his take on the struggles of certain children in school and in life, and the different ways that people--particularly teachers--respond to the unique needs/challenges/strengths of different types of learners.

Someday Angeline
Would recommend this book to anyone who loves Sachar's way of writing, because this is another one of his great stories. A great story line about love, friendship, and getting back on the right track to a happy life.
