Still holds the kids interest
Even in the days of Xbox cell phones and tablets my grandson still picks the berenstain Bear books and bedtime! I read them to my son 30 years ago and my grandson loves the new set and I love time spent with him away from a screen of any kind!!

A decent book for the topic, but not Berenstain's best
My daughter is in a preschool class that is already very clique-ish. I picked this book to help her see that it's not nice to be in a clique. The storyline was OK in accomplishing that, but still lacked what I was looking for. However, I haven't found a better one. It's especially hard to find books that teach kids that being the "cool kid" is not cool if you are excluding others. I think this IS the best I've found at dealing with that. Most of the books on bullying and excluding others are written for the bullied kid. My daughter IS one of the "cool kids" and I'm trying to teach her to include everyone. I'd like to find a storyline with a kid who stands up for other kids who are picked on and is therefore the "cool" kid because of his/her generous heart.

Berenstain Bears and the In Crowd
I used to read these to my friend's little girl. When my twin's were due, that same little girl (by then a teenager) sent me a collection of books. My children loved them all and we read at least two Berenstain Bears stories each and every night. Well now my friend's little girl is all grown up, married and expecting her own baby... what better baby gift than a collection of Berenstain Bears books? They are a very likable family of bears and each book has a little theme and wholesome message. They are great for 2-4 year olds. Amazon let me ship the box directly to their door for FREE! Thanks Amazon!

Decent book, but could've been better.
I bought this book for my 7 year old daughter because I wanted her to read about how Sister Bear stood up for herself and didn't follow the crowd. I do think that this book is decent, but I feel that it missed the mark for showing and telling kids how to stand up for themselves. Queenie McBear was a new girl in town and was snotty, rude, and self-centered. I wish that the book would have demonstrated Sister Bear asserting herself and standing up to Queenie in a positive way instead of feeling bad that she was left out of the fun. Most kids would feel bad that they were singled out, but I feel that kids need to learn how to be confident, assertive, and happy with who they are. This book just didn't do it for me.

This is a fine book for any child experiencing bullying in school
This is a fine book for any child experiencing bullying in school. It will help him/her to understand that she is not alone and she can have friends by being himself or herself.Good for starting conversation on the subject

Our favorite!
We love the TBB series and have been reading since my daughter was 3yo. She's 6yo now and still enjoys them. There's a BB book for everything!! Highly recommended.

Great children's books
Berenstain Bears books are great. Entertaining and you usually get a good moral lesson. I grew up on these and we just bought every book we could find because we want our kids to grow up on them.

Started the conversation, but didn't add much to it after that.
My daughter is four, so when I bought this book I knew she wasn't old enough to understand what peer pressure is. However I thought I'd like to get a start on talking about it before she had to deal with it so that she's not totally blind-sided when it comes up. I also loved "Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree" when I was a child. That's how I came to buy this Berenstain book. The book brought up the topics of peer pressure, mean kids, and materialism. That was good. The way Sister Bear dealt with it seemed unrealistic to me. The book showed what *won't* work when dealing with peer pressure, but didn't add much about what *will* work. When Queenie McBear loses the jump roap contest and declares at the end "I've learned my lesson," it brings a weak plot to an impossible conclusion. A kid who's being mean because she feels insecure is never going to respond that way to losing. Hoping for something like that will not be helpful to a child who's being pressured or mistreated by her peers.Still my daughter enjoys reading the book with me, and opening the conversation on that topic does have some value, so I'm giving it three stars.
