another quality entry into the sasek library!
sasek's books are all visually lovely, no doubt about it, however they are also incredibly informative, which i quite appreciate. this book is littered with amazing images and interesting facts. i would, however, say this entry is perhaps a trifle dry. despite this, the book is still highly recommended.and as with all the updated printings of sasek's books, there is a welcome list of "this is the country...today!" at the end of the book with changes listed since the original printing. it is great to see both the way the country WAS as well as the present day differences.i highly recommend this book if you are interested in either greece, or simply in wonderful illustration.

Great Travel Series for Kids
These are great old, reprinted series of travel books - simple but quite historic - and a good introduction to young children - also for England, France etc.

a country he would like to visit in the future
I purchased this book to aid my wife's son in his quest to learn more about Greece, a country he would like to visit in the future. Easy to find on Amazon.com and this book had a lot of interesting pictures to go along with the text.

Unlike the other books by Sasek, this one has ...
Unlike the other books by Sasek, this one has more words. Personally for me, it takes away from thinking of this book as an "introduction" book to a new country for my little one. Regardless, you would want to have this to complete Sasek's "This is" book collection. Everyone knows you need a book with a man in white tights so you can drink your ouzo to. The quality of the book is okay .. but not of high quality.

An exciting book for a young traveler.
A fun book that points out with rare clarity the importance of Greece as the cradle of civilization for Western culture. It will hold the interest of book youth & adult with the colorful drawings & brief pivotal description of the different cultural landmarks to be found in it's capital --plus more

Fantastic retro artwork that will make you happy to see it!
This whole series by Sasek is fantastic. I would buy them while they are available since they are reprints and who knows when you will be able to get them again.

Lovely book but difficult for young ones to relate to
I bought this for my 5 and 7 year old to get them excited about their first trip to Greece this year. We tried reading it at home a couple of times before leaving and they didn’t connect all that well to it. However, after travelling to Athens and visiting the monuments and seeing the relics, on return they have loved reading this book as they can now put it all into context. It’s a lovely book with gorgeous illustrations, I think it just may be hard for some younger children to relate to this unless they have context to put it in.
