I was prepared for it not to live up to the description, but I am so happy with the quality! It’s a lighter gray color and matched my barstools perfect!

We got this for our son, for the bar area of his home. He loves it. He enjoys entertaining, which usually centers around the bar. One suggestion is to apply a protective coating to the top to prevent rings of other staining of the raw wood. We used a water-based, satin polyurethane finish which was easy to brush on and the brush clear with soap and water. We used two coats.

The cut was straight, and barrel is secure and sturdy. At first I did not think it was an entire half barrel, so I measured. The measurement from side to side on the flat side is exactly half of the measurement from the center of the flat side to the edge. 11 inches and 22 inches measuring at the top of the barrel. I will use indoor and plan to refinish it, so was not expecting it to have fine finish. I would call it rugged.

What a charming addition to my room! I love this barrel, and it is super authentic. I didnot know it was going to be an actual used wine barrel. You can see the wine stains inside along with crystalized sugars. You can even smell the wine that was once in it. On another note this thing is huge and super heavey so you may want help moving it. I sure did.

The item comes with the new bands on the half barrel and screwed into the barrel with bulky screws. Both the bands and the screws appear to have a galvanized metal color. The wood barrel is not stained like shown in the advertisement. To return the barrel we were going to be charged shipping. So, we are keeping the thing, and will not trust Amazon again for our large more expensive products; those we will buy local.

The barrel you receive may not look exactly like the photo. We have purchased two - at different times - and they are different "styles." Each is unique. They are very well packed when shipped.

I love this half barrel. Arrived today. It is much better than what I expected. It is absolutely beautiful. And the price can't be beaten. If you love wine you have to have this.
