(Update) Received better quality Tulsi tea, like my 1st several orders.
This is my 3rd order of purple holy basil. The last 2 were fine but this one has a strange mildew smell. Today I found my 3rd large insect. I've included pictures of the green insect. Not sure what type of insect it is but I've never seen one like it here in America.I'm pretty upset with the quality of tea I received this time, and this review reflects my honest opinion. At this point, I'm uneasy about using this product to make tea, (health wise) . Generally when you smell mildew in most types of foods, it's an indicator to throw it out, and not risk getting sick! Not sure, but it seems like if it's your 1st time ordering this tea, they'll send you a good batch, to gain your trust. Then by your 2nd or 3rd purchase of this tea, they'll send you a much lower grade. Just seems to be the case, based on other reviews with the same mildew smell complaint.I'm normally not one to complain or leave reviews, but felt compelled to share. I initially really liked this tea, and still would, had I recieved the same quality tea as I did in my 1st 2 orders.(Review update)I ordered this tea again and received a much better batch.

Great Tea from a Local Business in Portland, Oregon
I love this tea.It has an amazing earthy scent to it and a slight peppermint and earthy flavor. I have had really stressful days and it's crazy because I can actually FEEL this tea grounding me, bringing me home, and relaxing my mind and body. The other thing I love about this product is that you get SOOO much! A 1 Pound bag lasts us months! And we drink this stuff nearly every night before bed.I also love this company!I lived in Portland, OR for 6 years. I've met the owner who is a humble man who passes out chai for $1 from his traditional Indian pot and gives you a free cup each year at the Belmont Street Fair. Their staff is knowledgeable and kind and often will treat you to a pot of tea if you visit their retail/bulk tea store next to their tea room. A lot of their tea comes from China, from what I have been told is a very good and quality source. This company takes tea very passionately and I'm always happy to support.Do yourself a favor and buy this tea and support this wonderful company.

Missing the Shanti Blend from a Few Yrs Ago
This is an economical option for organic tulsi tea. I am a huge fan of tulsi (I'm a holistic MD based in California). I used to use the "Shanti" blend from Tao of Teas for years. It had orange peel, fennel, and tulsi. It was very high quality. This is not at all in the same league as that. Not sure why? Was there a change in company ownership or sourcing? Tao of Teas, if you are reading, please bring back the Shanti blend!! This bag of tea has stems and isn't as refined in terms of processing/cut as the other major brand on the market (Organic India), but it still does the trick (very calming and good for the adrenals). I actually use both brands. It's nice to have an affordable option to recommend to patients who are cost conscious...

Wow! This has totally replace coffee for me...and calmed my GI system..
Boy was I happy to find the Tao of Tea Purple Tulsi. I really like it, and I truly don't know why exactly. I've heard that it calms and supports the GI system. That must be true, as it is almost a rare event for my stomach to ache. Elimination is said to be supported. Hummm...maybe true as it is subtle, but stools are more formed if that makes sense. It is also said to improve alertness without jitteriness. Again, that MUST be true as I have quit drinking coffee since tulsi came into my life.I love watching it change colors and the tea unfold after adding hot water. Initially the water is green, then darkens. I usually steep some to bring to work. I usually drink it plain, without sugar or cream. Many days, I steep after I come home. Coffee now tastes way to bitter and acidic after drinking this. I also like the GENEROUS 1 pound bag. This is truly a deal - and the majority of the profit goes to the people who did the work to bring these to you. I like Amazon's 2 day delivery with Prime. So, I go to Tao of Tea to find something neat to try, and come to Amazon to order.Delicious...no critters in the bag...and a company I feel good supporting. Thanks, Amazon, for offering this tea here. Now to get back to the task at hand...drinking what I've already steeped...

Time to Relax
Recently I had been feeling pretty stressed out and wanted to try a natural solution. I initially tried a tulsi extract from Sprouts and loved how it made me feel relaxed. But buying extracts like that was pretty expensive, so when I found this bulk tea, I thought why not give it a try. Really happy that I did!Received the product today, and was pleasantly surprised by the fine cut of the leaves, since other reviewers said they were hoping for a finer cut. I had to use a tea strainer (which I recommend) since my yerba mate straw let too many of the leaves through. There are stems, but I didn't find it to be a big problem. The aroma is really fragrant of tulsi and spices. I think the level of spice enhanced the tea's flavor, and did not overpower it. I used to buy a lot of herbal tea bags, and won't be going back to them. Mainly I recommend this product because it served the purpose I bought it for, the price is much more economical for me than buying extracts or pills, and the taste is good enough that I could drink it all day.

I take this regularly, it's perfect
I've ordered this multiple times, it's always very good quality. Holy Basil is one of the only herbs that makes a noticeable difference in how I feel, powdering it in a coffee grinder and throwing a few teaspoons in water is part of my morning routine now and it's a great way to start off the day. During more stressful times in my life Holy Basil is one of the only things that's gotten me through it, it's very calming and meditative. Sometimes I leave as is and drink it it as a regular tea also, as far as flavor goes it really is one of the more pleasant herbs, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years this is a staple in the tea and supplement market and really takes off.
