Better than a self-help book!
Dr. Doolittle is alive and well and living in North Hollywood, California. Although there is one significant distinction. In the song, Dr. Doolittle always said, talk "to" the animals. Amelia Kinkade talks "with" the animals, or perhaps more accurately, she listens to them. There are a few other minor differences as well. Dr. Doolittle was a portly, British man of a certain age, while Amelia Kinkade is a beautiful, blonde, ex-actress and dancer, full of joy, wisdom and jokes--and more vibrant than anyone I've met in a long time.If you've ever wondered what animals are saying I recommend the class, but if you are unable to pop up to New York or fly to the Isle of Man where Amelia teaches every summer, her books are the next best thing, and perhaps even more comprehensive. In The Language of Miracles, Amelia explains that we can all talk with animals, it's just a matter of rediscovering what we knew as children but have lost with head-centered thought. Amelia's mission is to show that with the proper dedication, training and understanding everyone can do what she does. All children are born with astute intuitive abilities, but most of us lose the capability at an early age when an adult responds to our cries of delight concerning the monster under the bed, or our "imaginary" animal friend with, "There's no such thing. That's just your imagination." That's right but, as Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Our imaginations are creating the entire 3D holographic world we experience every day, and this is part of the language of miracles. What is the rest? Love and compassion. As Amelia writes, "There's a saying that the longest journey you will every take is from your head to your heart." Once in the heart space become aware of the energy, an energy field in which we can all communicate--plants, animals, humans--with each other, telepathically. Explaining and gently instructing in provocative and often hilarious ways, Amelia takes on God, animals and quantum physics all in one go. Explaining this zero point energy field, she says:"Picture a gargantuan spider web of silver light. Every living being is connected on this web. Now let's expand on this idea. Instead of a two-dimensional web, let's picture this web in 3D, as wide as it is deep and spreading out in every direction throughout the universe, indefinitely. It's a sparkling ocean of energy that contains every thing in our universe. It includes every living being and the history of every being. What's more, not only is it made up of matter, but this sea of energy also occupies the space between the stars, and the empty space between your cells, and even the space between the nuclei and the electrons in your atoms.Remember, matter itself is almost completely insubstantial. It's made up of 99 percent empty space. Now, instead of seeing the absence of matter as a vacuum, envision that this void, along with the rest of creation, is electric, vibrating, and alive."She writes that "human beings can be viewed as cells in the body of God, and so is every animal, every plant, every star in our universe. When I say, `God,' I mean a loving and nonjudgmental infinite force. You could also call it Universal Intelligence, Divine Creativity, or Nature's Mind. I don't care what you call it; just call it. Your ability to communicate with animals will hinge on your ability to communicate with God because that relationship is your gauge for how well you communicate with you."She explains that the world responds to us by responding to our thoughts. Therefore, if you "put your thought on the elephant, with concentration, you will "become" the elephant. Only by getting inside the elephant can you hear his thoughts, feelings, and sense the feelings inside his body."The Language of Miracles debunks myths such as that animals cannot tell time and have no emotions:"Animals do fall in love, and they do feel married, so always allow adequate grieving periods for your non-human friends if they have lost a loved one. Some never fully recuperate. Just like us. [...] Although they don't always express these psychological dynamics in human fashion, it's dangerous and foolish to assume animals are not capable of our entire range of emotion. If fact, it has been my experience that their scope is sometimes larger than that of humans not only in terms of their spontaneity, loyalty, ferocity, grace and unprecedented powers of forgiveness, but I've found that they are also privy to transcendental states of consciousness and more miraculous states of deep healing not accessible to most humans."With a beautiful foreword by Bernie Seigel, the book offers examples and exercises and teaches in simple steps not only how to talk to animals and hear what they are saying, but also how to track lost animals, how to use Gestalt on an animal's body to find illness or pain, and how to communicate with animals who have crossed over to the other side. Writing with an original style and sense of humor that had me wondering if she really was from this galaxy, Amelia manages to convey overwhelming feeling for the animals who, until recently, have been heard by a very few. One of the book's strongest messages is compassion, for in order to connect with animals it is necessary to get out of the head and into the heart. Behind every desire to hear what an animal is saying there should be compassion and reverence for all life. And gratitude. Recently Amelia said, "Let's put our attention on the most precious gifts in our lives--the things we value the most. Let's allow our definition of abundance to not just revolve around the almighty dollar, but around the abundance of love, joy, and devotion and the level of happiness our animals bring to our lives. Let's put our attention on what we should value and thank God for--not results the fueled by the human-monkey world of stress, ego, and greed, not the number of green pieces of paper we've accumulated in our fragile banks--but by those mysterious furry treasures who look up at us with excited eyes every morning and greet us back into the waking world with a flurry of sloppy kisses, so happy that we are even alive; those loved one who purrr, wag their tails, help us laugh, calm down, meditate, exercise and play and who see beauty in life even when we don't have the strength."I'm quite certain Amelia is an earth angel masquerading as a human and her book likewise is much more than a guide for interspecies communication. It is an inspiration for us all to show more compassion and reverence, and will nudge readers to sit down with their animals and explore the unspoken world between them. Miracles Underfoot
This is an engaging book by a professional animal communicator. The anecdotes she shares are truly amazing and lots of fun. Additionally, she provides techniques by which the reader can also learn to talk with the animals.I do have a few quibbles, however. The first is that the author is determined to provide a recognized scientific basis to explain the communication. As the traditional sciences have never been particuarly flexible even when they have been totally wrong (the world is flat, the earth is the center of the universe, etc)they are unlikely to be convinced by the latest theories in quantum physics. The people who buy this book already know and believe. I found the constant insertion of scientific thoery and the author's dumbing it down for the rest of us annoying, unneccesary and patronizing. Additionally, I found her names for her processes clumsy. Just say bridge of light instead of lumenstilta! The author warns prospective communicators that they risk actual physical and possibly emotional pain by engaging in her healing techniques. As a reiki master and qi gong practitioner,I respectfully disagree. Healers, while frequently empathic, do not have to take on the ailments of their patients. I was surprised that the author was so insistent on acceptance of the pain--as animals are capable of communicating in pictures, a request to do so would suffice without the pain. The author's occasional coyness was irritating, particuarly when describing a session without revealing the animals she was treating. Their species was neighter shocking nor appalling. It also appeared that she was, at times, anthromorphizing the creatures, with her insistence that they have "boyfriends". Her chapter on her housefly was truly unneccesary. However, all in all, it was a fun read that encourages dancing down the avenues of communication with you furry, feathered or scaled friends.

Book which changed my life
Wonderful book! I recomend it with all my heart!Dear Amelia,At the beginning I would like to thank you from the depths of my heart for your wonderful book The Language of Miracles. I am reding it, almost finishing, but I am already sure that it is a life changing book, one of the most important in my life. I didn't know anything about you and the book when I found it on the publisher's website, but seeing the cover I experienced a strong feeling that it contains what I need. And there is that! And more! Your book opens the heart. Only by reading it I feel love - it is like activating some potential. Your book brings closer to myself, to animals (including people ;) ) to Nature and God. It is treasure.Just after starting reading it I couldn't stop myself to check if it works -and it does! I made contact with several animals like never before (even if I tried in the past). There were short situations, like the very first steps, but I am already very happy. By the way I feel much better and more open with people too. I have many friends and relatives with whom I would love to share your book. THANK YOU so much for your work.

Amelia is Fantastic!
This is a great book. I started learning this skill in the 70's from Beatrice Lydecker. I lost the skill over the intervening years and now, me and my cats are learning it all over again. Thank you Amelia. I absolutely LOVE how you bring together Quantum Physics with Spirituality. You correlate the two in a way that I always knew could be done, but I lacked the focus to write about it myself. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a closer relationship with their pets -- or any animal -- or any person. It's all in the book whether you believe it or not!

I am very interested in this subject and have started ...
I am very interested in this subject and have started to read a number of books on the subject. Amelia has such a way with words that one does get pulled in. I just wished I could get in tuned with my spiritual side so that I could "talk" to my beloved companions that have gone. One my do a leap of faith reading such books but I found it quite inspirational.

An advanced book to get your head 'round
The first time I read this, I got 3/4 of the way through and felt blocked to continue and it is only now, a few years later that I understand that this was just too advanced for me to get my head around the first time 'round. Amelia presents the quantum hologram theory in such detail and I would recommend it as a more advanced book once the basics of communication are mastered.
