Decent for the price but better make sure there's no manufactur defects within the first 30 days!
Decent for the price but horrible warranty! The warranty for manufactur defects is very scrupulous & short because they know it's not a very durable/well made product! You only have 30 days to find anything wrong & if you do then you have to pay for it to get shipped back even though you're shipping it back because they built it poorly!

For The Shooting Range & Hunting
I was looking for a scope I could use at my range when shooting my ak-47 and ar-15 and other guns. I really didnt want to spend a ton of money but at the same time didnt want to buy junk. I am a once and done type of buyer. I read almost all reviews on this scope and no one really answered the questions i wanted to know and if they did answer them someone else had and exact oposite thing to say. I wanted something that i could see my shots on paper at 25,50,100,200 yards, with my experience with this scope it works GREAT for the 25,50,100 yard, it focuses in very nice and clear. at 200 yards it is somewhat harder to see the shots on white paper but it is possible. I found that if i use the black targets that glow when the bullet hits them i have no problem seeing where I hit, for me this is not a problem for the price point.. I really dont shoot 200 yard that offten. some reviews read that they didnt have a problem seeing the bullet holes at 300 yards, from my experience with this scope that just is not true. If you want to shoot over 200 yards i dont think this is the scope for you. when it comes to hunting i also think this scope is perfect for my area. I live in Ohio so there is not miles and miles of open land nor is it extrmly hilly so i have no problem counting the points on a buck 400 to 500 yards away. The scope seems to appear well made. The hard case it came in is nice and does what it is made for. I would recommend this scope to anyone who plans on doing what I am doing with it. If you want the absolute best picture and clarity then break out your wallet and spend double the price.... I give the scope an A- overall so it gets 4 stars for me. I would buy it again.P.S. If you plan on just target shooting with this scope BUY THE STRAIGHT SCOPE, NOT THE ANGLED. I picked up the angled because i also hunt with it,not just target shoot. God Bless

.30 Cal. Bullet at 200 Yards - No Problem
I used my new spotting scope to sight in my .30-06 rifle today. It was partly sunny, i.e. there was really plenty of light, so I can't comment on its low light performance..30 Caliber holes were easily distinguishable on a white, paper target at 200 yards. I would think 250 would also fly. 300 might be pushing it, but that would be pure speculation on my part.I did not note much loss of clarity between 40 and 60x magnification. This might show up in lower light situations, perhaps. Of course the field of view and eye relief become tighter and tighter as you zoom in, but that's to be expected. I believe that both FOV and eye relief are noticeably better than the cheaper Simmons/Tasco versons of the Meade Travel View that I tested at Walmart. Sure I wasn't able to keep my eyeglasses on while looking through the Barska, but the Meade just about had my eyeball touching the glass. The tripod is actually pretty stable for what it is. For this task, it was perfect. I felt no need to pull out my camera tripod. Only downside is its lack of a lateral tilt. This would have allowed me to remain seated between shots and checking the spotting scope, but the fact is, for sighting purposes, it's wise to let your barrel cool down between shots anyway. And what do you want for this kind of dough? Yes, the Meade does have a more adjustable tripod, but it was not as stable. And since my eyeball was right on top of the lens on the Meade, it was difficult to keep the thing from wobbling all over the place. Not so with Barska.Hard case is great and there is a soft case included too.I returned my "Shoot 'n See" targets on the way home today as they were not needed since new spotting scope made the holes at 200 yards. So there's $25 back in my pocket! For just over a hundred bucks... I think this thing is a steal!

Good scope for the hobbyist shooter if it lasts!
I purchased this scope to sight targets at approx 100-200 yards on white paper. I think for the price it is a good product. It is clearly not a super high end Ziess scope so if your plan is read the fine print on you paper targets at 200yards, good luck to you. At its highest magnification, the image becomes blurry, but if you back it off slightly, I have found it to be clear enough to get the job done. Using splatter targets mitigates this issue. If you are a professional of some sort, serious competitor, or just one of those people who MUST HAVE THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF EVERYTHING, then keep looking...this is not the scope for you. However, for someone like me to goes shooting a few times a year and just wants a decent enough scope to have a little fun with...this is a good choice. Coming with the hard and soft case is nice. The tripod is pretty junky, but that's OK since its basically a free extra they threw in.My only worry is that the rubberized texture will become a problem over time. Cheaper rubberized finishes tend to degrade and become sticky, collecting all kinds of crap, hair, and dust. So far over the last couple months this finish seems quality, but in a few years we will see. For now its ok...Overall, I have been enjoying using this scope when I go out shooting and having fun with my friends and thats all I needed.UPDATE December 2014:I have discovered that once this scope was brought into the cold (~30-40F), the adjusting dial for the magnification froze solid. When I tried to turn down the mag, the entire eye piece turned itself out of the body of the scope. I cant say this happens to EVERY scope, but it did happen to mine.I contacted Barska directly since it was outside the 30 day Amazon return policy. They returned my email 15 days later informing me that I would need to ship it back to Barka WITH my $25 inspection fee. Frankly, I think that is bogus but it is stated in their "lifetime warranty". I wouldn't feel so slighted had this scope lasted me many seasons of good use, but it didn't. The first time I took it somewhere cold it failed critically.Given this, I am altering my rating to one star. Given the low cost of the scope in the first place, having to pay 25% of the cost to have the company replace a defective product that was only used a couple times leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Is not worth the risk. Buy a better scope from the start and potentially avoid this mess.

Good entry level product
Overall it's a good entry level spotting scope. As many of the reviews said, it's not all that effective past 40x nor is it effective in low light conditions. This scope will definitely do the trick at spotting holes in the target at the range but if your looking to spot game from a distance during early morning or late evening hours, you'll need to spend the extra money as no entry level product will meet those needs. Overall I'm happy with my purchase as this is a great product for those on a budget.

Not very good
Scope arrived in a cheap plastic and metal case inside a box inside a box inside another box. That's fine. It's well packaged.Scope, case and soft bag smell strongly of horse manure. Maybe it's some chemical smell but that's what it smells like.Eye relief is super short. Angle of view is super narrow. Hard to get a good view, especially with safety glasses on.Did I mention it smells like horse manure? And not in a good way.Pretty much a waste of money.
